R56 Loaner Car :(
Loaner Car :(
So a couple weeks ago my run flat light came on, so I drove to the dealer and they said I just had low tire pressure and filled the tires up to around 40 ea. they said. Which is above the 33 listed on the door, but I was like whatever and went home. Today the light comes on again, so I take it in and they find a nail. Of course the tire I need is not in stock so they give me a loaner. I've heard of some people getting some pretty nice loaners, so I was pretty excited about it. Unfortunately for me, my dealer has partnered with Enterprise and I get a POS Nissan Sentra
.
I'm just curious what other loaners people have gotten...

Two Chevys mid-size sedans and a Mitsubishi compact SUV.
Mini North Scottsdale is partnered with Hertz. I've seen MINIs on the Hertz lot, but I suspect those are not 'loaners' and would only be available at standard rental rates. Though I haven't actually asked.

Considering I own a 17 year old Sentra, I wouldn't mind if I got one as a loaner. I've had loaners twice. They basically just got me home and then I drove my daily driver anyway (the Sentra). I've had a brand new G6 as a loaner and a POS (almost 30k miles) Chevy of some kind (4 door). It was an ok car except that is was totally trashed. For free, I wouldn't complain. The G6 had zero power and zero handling. It had a V6 in it too. Totally gutless. Way slower than my old 220k mile Sentra, a crime to compare it to a Mini.
I would love to get a Mini loaner, although I don't think my dealer ever has any. They might becomer rare with the way Mini's are selling.

I had to go to Mini North Scottsdale to drop of my buddies mini for service. They had some minis at Hertz for $40-45/day on top of what Mini was paying. He gladly took the malibu offered for $5/day. I'd rather deal with Enterprise, might not be able to get a mini at either vendor but at least enterprise provides better service.
I got a 2008 AB automatic MC when I took Viola in for her roof graphic and flaps.
While there was little about this car that was different from Viola, the things that were different were things that I completely did not like. After driving it around for the day, and getting no smiles out of the thing, I've decided that there really isn't anything that is quite the same as driving your own car. I was so glad to be behind the wheel in my own car when I picked her up, that I giggled and breathed a sigh of relief.
Being in the loaner made me really tense.

From my experience dealers usually have a very limited number of loaners (that are usually reserved ahead of time) then they go to the rentals, so you usually have to be lucky, or have a dealership thats very slow (or super large). Normally if its more than a day or two, you can complain and they will let you know when one of there loaners are coming in and let you swap.
Yeah, what you say. Is this loaner business something that MINI provides?
My dealer here in San Francisco sells BMW - MINI. When I would take in my BMW 740i for servicing [a car that sold for 2.5 times more than the MINI back in the day] BMW of San Francisco hailed a cab and gave me a slip of paper to give the driver for a free cab ride. That's it.
Are you all saying that the MINI part of the dealership gives loaners? I can't imagine the skinflints at MINI of San Francisco doing that.
Seems I read somewhere on NAM that East Bay MINI does give out loaner cars.
Oh, my friend has a Sentra. While I admit my MINI is nicer than the Sentra, that car ain't so bad, for free.
Maybe I'll go look up my warranty book to see what it says about loaner cars. Based on your post I suspect it might be an option for the dealer to provide loaners.

Just a Cooper (but it was convertible
)
Last time was a 328i. Nice!
When I hit the deer, the body shop guy thought he was funny when he said "Since your Mini is wrecked, we thought we should give you a Mini...
Van as your loaner."

I'm currently in an 09 Corolla loaner and while I appreciate the loaner service, I despise that car! I've always thought of Toyotas as being a decent car until I drove that thing! What a gutless, uncomfortable heap!
I got an almost new BMW X3 loaner at Cincinnati MINI (they are also a BMW dealer). No big deal to me as we also own an X3. As a comparison I took my Ford Fusion company car to the Ford dealer for service and they gave me a 1989 Crown Vic with 129000 miles. Looked like a cop car and at least had fun slowing traffic on my way home.
He didn't get the green turd, as the normal loaner Mini is known as around town.
It somehow
always makes it to most club gatherings.

from the guy who drove my car around the parking lot.
2008 BMW 328i from Mini/BMW of Concord (Ca). I was told at delivery of my car however that if they ran out of loaners that they would use Enterprise. I think the whole loaner thing applies if they plan on keeping the car more than one day though. For same day service my dealer will drop you off at home if you live locally or at the BART train station. When your car is done they will pick you up from those locations as well.

My dealership is Vista BMW/MINI and each time I bring my MCSa in for service they give me a VW Jetta loaner car since they don't have Mini's as loaners. The BMW owner's get BMW loaner cars since there is a much larger supply of them.
When I had owned other cars like a Ford I was always put into Enterprise Rental cars.

Don't these dealerships realize that with MINIs being an MSRP purchase, the only thing differentiating them from their competition is their service? Do they not know about NAM and that this type of crap is exactly what we warn each other about? Boo-hiss on SFMINI or whatever they call themselves.
