One of the dumb busboys that works for me in my restaurant thinks its a girlie car and calls me a f@g for driving it. I drive a brand new 2008 ab/ab cooper s. not very girlie to me. now this kid doesn't even have a car him self and is going no where in life. Mean while i'm 24 and run a million dollar restaurant in CT. Anyone who says it's a f@g car can come to me and i will set them straight. I'm writing all of this at work just after i caught him bad mouthing me as a boss. Moron

No jokes from my friends. They think it's cool. Won't be getting any at work either... cuz my boss has one too.

I went to a Monster Jam truck rally Saturday night. In the traffic jam on the way out I got lots of comments from people and they were all positive.

If your friends are making rude comments about owning a MINI, you seriously need to make some new friends!

well.. this tread just changed my mind about my vanity plate! I was going to get the FL plate that says "imagine" and the letter's "IM BIG2".... now I definitely will go with another choice... as a women, I would feel uncomfortable driving with that plate now!

There is no question that Mini's standout from 95% of the boring cars on the road. Our freeways are a sea of Camry's, Tahoe's, Pickup Trucks, Corolla's, and other boxy looking cars that all blend in to one another. When I see someone driving a Mini I instantly know that more often than not that person is someone who is either into cars, appreciates uniqueness, or likes great gas mileage. I've never heard Mini's referred to as "girl cars" or cars for people w/ small penises. ...maybe it's because my cars will blow anything away these other people drive or most of my friends appreciate cool cars.

In any case, don't let what other people think get to you.

All you have to do is give them a ride.

One good ride.

Had one friend suggest that to me. The thing is, I used to, uh, date his wife some years ago. I reminded him that I used to date her, and that perhaps he should ask her. He got very, very quiet . . . .

On miata.net we have something called "Gay Tuesdays", it's the day of the week when all the "is my car a gay/hairdresser car? posts show up.

I've frankly never gotten any comments about this with my Miata (I don't own a MINI YET) but I suppose with MINI's also being a small car without 300+ HP that some perceived stigma is there as well, at least in the minds of some owners.

If you look at the various lists of cars popular with the gay/lesbian community, you rarely see Miatas or MINIs on there, actually one of the top vehicles on both lists is the Jeep Wrangler, which I am sure really confuses the good ole boys that also buy Jeep Wranglers.

A couple weeks after getting my MINI I was driving slowly through a supermarket parking lot when a mom and her 5-year old son departed their minivan and started toward the store...the little boy looked at my car and broke out in the biggest smile...I waved and smiled back, and then realized his smile was about to turn to disappointment because a dozen clowns didn't climb out of the back. Oh well.
I'm a woman, so I don't get the "compensation" comments from others...but I always figured guys who drove Hummers probably had a little "Mr Hummer" himself. Any guy who drives a MINI is probably quite secure in his masculinity to begin with. And anyone who makes a clown comment is just ignorant when it comes to our beloved cars. Take pity on them, and take the opportunity to lecture them on all the fine benefits of MINI ownership. They'll never bother you again!

When I was ordering my car, I had several friends who made fun of me because I was getting a "chick car", because of the number of women they had seen driving it. Of course, I just smiled and said "wait and see". Now those same friends not only consider it a cool car, but two of them are now thinking about getting their own.

Welcom to the Cult of Mini. You will be assimilated.

No one has ever said that in regards to either of my MINI's. Everyone thinks they are awesome.

Driving a huge, obnoxiously large, lifted Silverado, F250, etc.... = Having a small **** ( Don't even get me started about how much the tools that drive these sorts of trucks **** me off...its clear they are small downstairs just by how they act...) They always love to drive them like they are MINI's or something fast, stupid morons. Ya dude, you're real cool and tough now.

I call it Small C*** Syndrome.

After taking him for a spin and scaring the bejasus out of him simply pull up in front of the restaurant and say, "Not bad for a *** car eh? Oh and by the way you're fired."

Had a guy in one of those "I own the road" trucks who just HAD to pass me yesterday at the entrance to a 2 lane sweeper off the 101.

By the time we were at the OTHER end of the turn, I had regained my lead position and was about a quarter mile ahead. Then looked down to see the speedo at a little over 100.. Oops..

It's nice to keep a towel or kleenex handy for after, then.
