2009 cost/colors

Has anyone heard/read anything about the cost increase and/or any additional colors for the 2009 Cooper/Cooper S?

Ryephile 07-04-2008 08:33 AM

Based on the '09 JCW model the colors will stay the same as '08. No word yet on price increase, though you can plan on a few hundred dollars to adjust for the Dollar getting closer to worthless.

I heard it going down in price just like gas:)

math4scher 07-04-2008 12:47 PM

Ryephile, your response makes perfect cents.
Cybergypsy, getting right to the core of the matter - congratulations on your new born APPLE. Very cute response and adorable name choice.

I bet destination charge goes up a few hundred.

Mirrim 07-04-2008 01:57 PM

I suspect that part of any price hike will be due to increased transport costs too.

roscoenj 07-04-2008 02:22 PM

Could be up more than a little. Energy to run the plan is up, metal and components to make the car is up, and demand for fuel efficient cars is up. Recipe for a significant price increase.

I think that you all made some excellent points. Our dilemma follows: My wife is going to buy a 2008 or 2009 Cooper. Do you buy a 2008 and it's already one year old by the time you get it or do you wait for a 2009 and pay $500 or $1000 more? It's a crap shoot and that's what we're presently dealing with. Thanks for all of your input so far - any advice here.

DMAC57 07-04-2008 04:37 PM

$499 on base and $865 Desitination Charge

I have heard something about a different black rather than the astro black. I have noticed that the factory aero package is now painted. It shows up in the configurator on the mini usa site now.

eurotrash01 07-04-2008 05:02 PM

My MA at MINI of Peabody (Mass.) told me that they are now sold out of 2008 build slots for the MCS and he has now taken my "order" for an '09 on a waiting list basis. Might be late October/early November.

No info on colors, prices or package changes yet. Guess one just has to swallow these if one wants the hot car.

math4scher 07-04-2008 05:07 PM

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to respond - the input has been extremely helpful/invaluable. I look forward to hearing from others.
Does anyone have any advice on color (ignorant of the fact that it's an individual choice) based on holding up better to living in the sunshine of South Florida? Metallic better than non-metallic for that reason or other ones?

Apple 07-04-2008 05:16 PM

Florida her bought red but PW is nice:)

Seeing how 2009 is the 50th anniversary of the Mini, any chance of an anniversary model?

Robin Casady 07-04-2008 08:08 PM

Isn't DSC coming as standard in all 2009 MINIs? That could mean a price increase.

I think Pure Silver should hold up well to sunshine because there isn't any color to fade. On the other hand, don't modern waxes protect paint from UV?

Whatever you get, I think a light colored roof would help keep it cool.

DragonWagon 07-04-2008 08:16 PM

We could start a betting pool on the % increase of the base model price.

pilotart 07-04-2008 09:25 PM

Would expect any solid color to hold up better in the sun than any metallic.

hunsingeruk 07-05-2008 10:41 AM
