R56 R56 mark-ups in Southern California
It was mentioned in the So Cal section. LB and Monrovia are owned by the same company, and Monrovia started charging $3k July 1st. I posted the markups (sans JCW since it wasn't released yet) in that thread.
// Nothing like paying 75 cents more per gallon of gas and waking up to smog, // highway congestion and earthquakes every morning
Yes there is the occasional shake from the ground, and we do have wildfires. No tornadoes or hurricanes, though. Where I live (in northern CA), there is no smog, traffic is reasonable, when the fog rolls back I can see the Pacific, and I never need a/c.
You only live once: I'd rather pay a little more for gas and live in a stunning place.

socal and norcal is both great! Ive lived in both regions of CA and it is a very hard state to leave. Born and raised, went through school all over CA and now living in socal.
I tell you, it is much "cheaper" to live else where.... Starting from home prices to gas. I can buy a mansion in Texas, New Mexico, South Carolina, Minnesota for the money I can get for my house here in CA (even in this kind of market) Not a bragging right, but reality.
But I love the sun, I love the fact that I am 10 minute walk to the beach. Yes there is traffic everywhere in socal but Im lucky that I commute opposite direction. I call all the higher cost of living = "Sun Shine Tax"

I don't know if you guys know the secret Long Beach Mini handshake, but I was there in July and some clod told me it was $1500 over MSRP. When I questioned that (since my friend bought from LB Mini at MSRP in 2006), he said they had just recently switched ownership.
Crevier is ridiculous to the pt of being insulting. $2k over MRSP and in some cases, I was completely thrown off to how they even reached the sticker window. Apparently, they all sit and pray for walk-in traffic, hopefully getting customers who impulse buy like lemmings. Terrible.
Why the hell would I pay $2k over when I can config the car to what I want online, damn well knowing the cost to the last penny?
The only place I found at MSRP was South Bay Mini in Torrance.

Excellent customer service. I was out of there in 30 minutes, deposit down and had a great feeling.

I guess that makes good business sense since transferring new cars between dealers is relatively easy, and they can make as much (or more) profit as they can if they sold them individually back here on the East Coast. Market Forces!

We did have an earthquake just the other day - can't remember when the last one I felt was - added a little spice to an otherwise boring day at work.
All my relatives come to San Diego for their vacation, I go to my backyard (and there are no monster mosquitos but I do miss the fireflies).
I ordered my Mini from South Bay, from Jason. He was very frank about everything, no lies, he was not pushy. I highly recommend him to anyone looking at a mini. Plus SB has no markup, and they throw in free mats, either carpet or rubber, which ever you prefer. I dont know if anyone else is doing that, but I thought that is like the cherry on top of the sundae.
I called Creiver and one sales rep told me no over mark, and I called back a few days later, someone else told me there is an overmark and NO way around it. I even asked if we could work around it some how, he said no way around it... what a *****.
Mini of Monrovia also has an over mark of $2500 on the MCS. One of the fleet managers told me to my face $2500 for a MCS, but when I called pretending not to knwo if there was a mark up, the same guy said "um.................. For the MCS? it is about $1900 to $2000 overmark." I asked can we work around it somehow, he told me no because the demand for the MCS is high.

Hey guys and gals I'm new here. I was thinking of leasing a 08 MCS when my lease on the Miata is over in May of 09 but after reading this thread that's not going to happen. Seems like they're selling like hot cakes. Lol. Do you think that the craze will die down a bit next year or get worse?
