How It's Made: R56 seats

I've been recording the TV program How It's Made and just watched a few of them. The one on car seats were MINI R56 seats. Pretty cool to see how they go together. They didn't mention MINI, but I recognized the seats, and a MINI logo showed up at the end.

The most interesting aspect of the assembly is that they have exactly an 88 second stay at each point in the process. Guess there's not a lot of time for unscheduled potty breaks!

I love that show. Maybe I'll catch the repeat of that episode if I'm lucky. I'd love to see how the seat is assembled, in case I need to take it apart one day.

Great show, but doesn't look like that episode will be airing in Australia for a while

Australia is only upto Season 7 Episode 8... So it's gonna be a long long wait

I saw it too. Neat.

Crap, I'm usually pretty religious about watching How it's made, and Modern Marvels come to think of it. Lately I've been too busy and have started deleting shows that I haven't gotten to in a while. Wish I had caught that one. Perhaps a torrent search is in order.

What other things were made in this episode? Any episode number? I'm checking the DVR and there quite a few.

Found it it airs Tomorrow night 7:00pm.

Man... it's times like this that I wish I had cable. But since those times are so few and far between... maybe I can find it on you tube.

Robin Casady Mar 4, 2008 10:33 AM

The episode included wooden barrels, fire hydrants, and cathode ray tubes. However, the listing on the Comcast DVR says, "Diamond Cutting, Wood Doors, Paintballs, Newspapers." This is from Comcast, Monterey, CA.

Well that helped me see how my seat is built and what could possibly be causing my drivers side seatback to be loose. It wiggles back and forth when you sit in it prob loose with in 1-2" play in the backrest section.
My dealer looked at it and fixed it once (replaced the entire seatbackframe) its still doing it. I don't know if it is the recliners or what.

Anyone else having this issue? Passenger side is completly fine, is rock solid.
