FINALLY: Picked up my 08 Cooper S

So after an exhaustive search for a desent dealer, I ordered my Cooper S on 1-5-08. the dealer Told me to expect to wait 4-6 weeks. I tracked the car relentlessly on the website (which is so behind on times). My baby was born on 1-16-08, and I picked her up yesterday 2-1-08. Less than a month after ordering her.
I have bad luck so 1. it rained like the skies were opening up, all day. 2. a rock flew up and chipped my windshield. now i should probably tell you that every time i buy a car something happens to it on the first day i own it. so if this is the worst thats gonna happen im ok with that.

anyway i have logged 300 miles since yesterday, and they have all been amazing. i will be going out tonight with 3 friends, so we'll see how she rides with a full load (an if they are comfortable) cause theyll be back there for about an hour each way....
i used to drive vw's (had 6 of them and still have a Corrado) and switched to Mini cause of fuel mileage. but boy i was not prepared for how much driving pleasure this car provides. i actually cant wait to make my 120 mile daily commute. ill give an update on how the night goes

everyone in this forum and community seems really friendly, and cant wait to get to know you all better .....

Happy motoring !!!!

edit for spelling

That first ding always hurts. I bought used, so mine came with a ding!
If you liked the vw's, you're gonna love the MINI! It has all the benefits of a small car, is terrific to drive, plus a cheekiness that's infectuous.
Welcome!

I can't help wondering if there was a bump in the production pipeline where there were a bunch of Clubman's produced for dealer showrooms. Now that we're past that, things should be faster...

Congrats, Tiny! My car's birth date was the same as yours--one year ago.

You'll have fun!

So far I have had her for 2 weeks (today) and racked up 2500 miles. (yes you read that right ) I LOVE HER !!!!

As compared to the R32 she sips gas instead of guzzling it like the R. The stock suspension on the R was a little soft in my opinion. so the MCS is a welcomed change. Handling is much better, and has many more options than the R.

As far as quick delivery time, I ordered from a factory store (MINI of Manhattan). I dont know if that helped. they told me 4-6 weeks and i got her in less than 3. I was so excited.

i am a little upset that it has rained/snowed every other day since I got her. It poured rain like cats and dogs on my delivery day, so i have barely gotten to see her clean, and havent had a chance to clean her myself since the hose bib on my house broke and flooded my basement with about 7 inches of water. that was fun I lost everything in my basement including all my VW parts that i was gonna sell to mod my MINI.

Otherwise I couldnt be happier with my new ride !!!

Curious Tiny I think you said you have the Web spokes? If so how do you find the stock tires in the weather? Living in CT I would say we get the same stuff.
