My dealer is discounting the 2007's

I just got an email from Dreyer and Reinbold that they are discounting their 2007 mini's. Guess they are not selling that well?

If your in the market you should check them out. I have always had good service.

COOP310 Jan 21, 2008 04:55 PM

Many dealers have been discounting pre-specced 07s on the lot for a few months now, since most people are now ordering 08s.

sailorliz23 Jan 21, 2008 05:00 PM

a few dealerships here in South FL are also giving great interest rates on the '07 models.

NashvilleMiniStan Jan 21, 2008 05:06 PM

Got my 07 Sat in Nashville. Dealership gave $1000 rebate, throw in mats and arm rest. I also got 4.9% financing.

I think with talk of a recession coming all car makes are having trouble selling their cars. It'll only get worse but then it might be a good time to buy!

gokartride Jan 21, 2008 05:18 PM

Yes, I've noticed the discounts, too....great news for some folks and something I thought I'd never see. I agree...the '07s are selling fine, but it seems Plant Oxford is finally able to keep up on the supply side. There were about 6 MINIs the other day at my local dealership...and two shipments later (only weeks apart) the lot is now full of '08s (w/ a new spoiler on Coopers)!!!

And speaking of Coopers, with them now easily getting 37-38 mpg around town and gas prices going up, I expect the showroom will remain quite busy.

ClubmanS Jan 21, 2008 05:29 PM

I never once remember any kind of deep discounts or special lease/financing factory sponsored programs on the R53s....

I disagree with the part that says all car makes are having trouble moving cars...

MINI Sales have been increasing month over month for as long as I can remember. I think the last decline was when the plant shut down to re-tool for the 07s. MINI sold 18.7% more cars globally in 2007 than 2006. The sales increased from 188,077 to 222,875. In the US, they sold 7.0% more cars at 42,045 vs. 39,171 in 2006. December MINI sales in the US were up 44% to 3,562 vs. 2,472 in Dec. 2006.

Oh, and there is a 2-4 year wait for any new Ferrari... clearly they aren't having trouble moving cars.

more people might buy mini's though. they get amazing gas mileage compared to suv's and honestly even Corolla's and Civics. i looked at both of these options when buying one of my MCS' and both run you at about 19k and dont get the advertised "35 mpg". i drove an '06 toyota corolla before i got my mini on the highway all the time and was only getting 27-29 mpg. thats what im getting driving my mini in the city. maybe you're right but i think smaller cars will see more sales.

MINI USA are doing well selling MINIs - but they have not always "increased month over month" - see the sales figure details here

For example ... October 2007 was down on September 2007, and down on October 2006.

I know it's just nitpicking, but since I have the figures, I might as well link to them

I wasn't necessarily talking about Minis, just car sales overall during a recession; they will slow down. If it was up to me we would all be driving Minis and we could give OPEC the one finger salute...

Are some dealers in Cali still marking MINIs up??

I just bought an 08 at no markup. in the Bay area.

sunshine22 Jan 21, 2008 07:08 PM

'07 Mini

I just paid $1733 under MSRP in Southern California on a new '07.

The dealer wouldn't discount an '08.

You mean when the factory had 1/3 less capacity than it has now? :sly:

Thanks Ian, I was actually looking for a compiled list like that.

The dealer here can't keep them in stock. One day you'll go in and there will be 7-10, two days later and they don't have one car in stock. They sell them as fast as they get them in.

Littlesha Jan 22, 2008 07:42 AM

I know that my dealer is certainly allowing more negotiating for 2007s. He told me that up front.

Not true. Both of our MINIs were leftover 06s. In fact, my one year anniversary is today with my car! My wife didn't get hers until March of last year.

Both were purchased below MSRP. In fact, hers was WAY below MSRP.

That's an excellent deal, over 5% off for (basically) the same car. My dealer was offering R53s at a discount (esp the MC) when I bought my R56, but those cars are way different unlike the 07 vs 08.

Um, my dealer had about 20 '06s on the lot when I ordered my '07 that they were offering discounts of $1500 on.

Damn.... If I had money, I would stock up on MCS's now....
