Does anyone's outside mirrors fold in electrically?

Does anyone's outside mirrors fold in electrically? This is one of those features that has an asterisk in the manual. I would think that I just don't have this feature except for the fact that there is a fuse in F20 which is for outside mirror fold-in (I think). You would think that if I didn't have this feature that Mini would not have fused that circuit.

READ your window sticker...you prob have this feature if you got the Cold Weather PKG... If so then the knob where you adjust your mirrors...thats what you use to fold them in you push it read the manual....

So are you saying if we "dont have that feature when we orderd the car" ( I don't ) you can insert a fuse and it'll work? Sounds too good to be true but if in fat that would be awesom!

Not likely just to be a "plug in the fuse" deal. The mirrors are different on cars equpped with that option.

No, what I was saying was that the circuit for the fold-in mirrors is fused in my Mini. If the car don't not have that feature, why did they fuse that circuit? Other features that I don't have are not fused. This makes me wonder if all Mini's have the feature but it's just not authorized in the computer if you didn't pay for it.

That would be cool if it was just a software hack to get them. I heard of enabling electronic features on other cars (such as trip computers) by punching a series of code on the radio buttons.... Since there is probably an actuator or motor involved and have heated washer jets, I would imagine that the self folding mirrors are different p/n.

Depending on when you ordered the car this may or may not have been included in cold weather package. When I ordered my car it was not part of the package and had to be ordered separately.

I don't think it would be unusual for a car maker to simply preload fuse boxes with fuses that cost pennies each. It is complex and expensive to insert fuses according to each car's custom configuration. Do MINI's without sunroofs include a fuse for it?

Maybe so since MINIs are so configurable, while assembly standardization saves money. Maybe the OP should pull the fuse and see if something stops working.... are the standard e-adjustable mirrors on the same fuse?

I have them. I had to pay extra. Haven't used them yet.

My MINI has power folding mirrors. I ordered them. I use them when parked on the ferry.

FortyTwo Dec 30, 2007 03:07 PM

I have the folding mirrors as well.

They are completely different parts, and it is not just an electroic-controlled option. I know this because if you try to buy the JCW carbon mirror caps, you have to specify if you have folding mirrors or not. They sell to different cap styles, therefore they must be diffent parts, right?

Does anyone have or know of electric folding mirrors on '06?

Folding mirrors, use them all the time to park in my Mini Garage. :-)
