Why Get Rid of the Seat Belt Height Adjusters

MIB 2006 R50 had seat belt height adjustors. I loved how I could sinch them down when doing twisties.

What was BMW thinking when they dummbed down the R55, and R56 with Stationary seat belt points???

One Major screw up with the new car.

Yeah, you don't really need to be able to adjust the belt 2" up and down when you can adjust the seat 3" up and down. Might have actually been an issue where with the belt too far adjusted in one direction and seat the other there could have been an unsafe angle on the belt as well.

I may be recalling it incorrectly but wasn't the seat height also adjustable in the R50/3?

It's unsafe on mine as it is. Cuts across my neck and over my right collar bone--not across the chest as it's supposed to. Very poor design IMO. I've tried every position to fix it, including steering wheel adjustment, but nothing works. I want a true fix, not a plastic gizmo that repositions the belt during normal driving, but wouldn't do a thing in a crash. And believe me, I've had the seatbelt actually blister-burn in a major.
