Rubber Mats Won't Stay Put
 

OK so here's the dilemma;

We just took delivery of our new 2007 MCSa and the we got the new rubber mats from the dealer for the MCS. The issue is that the mats do not have any mechanism to secure them in the foot wells. Our 2005 MCS had little clips in the floor that secured the mats but the new model does not.

Has anyone figured out how to keep the factory mats in a 2007 to keep from sliding around, or am I missing something this time around??

I've searched the site and can;t seem to find any quick answers so any help would be appreciated:confused:

Not sure about a quick fix but I ordered coco mats because I had the same concern.

You may want to see if the dealer will give you a credit for these and get coco's or weather tech mats.

Unfortunately this was the ONLY thing the dealer threw into the deal......the old adage; "You get what you pay for":roll:

I would say your out nothing and order the coco mats. Sell the rubber mats on here. This time of year I am sure people will be adding them with the nasty weather upon us.

The 2007 has clips as well.. go back to your dealer and get them installed or just pick up the clips and put them in yourself.

The rubber mats should come with Velcro disks that will keep them in place. One disk has a screw on the bottom that goes into the carpet. The other attaches to a circular recess in the bottom of the rubber mat. Mine only came with disks for the driver's side, but at some point I'll order them for the passenger side.

I agree with Robin. My driver-side rubber mat is well held in place by two Velcro pads. The passenger-side rubber mat moves around alot.

I didn't get any velcro pads or anything to hold them in place -- I agree -- they do move around a lot. I wish they had hooks like my old Prius did. I'll have to ask about the velcro.

Mine move around too. No velcro here.

My passenger side carpet mats move around, too.

yup, drivers side mats should have screw in thingies with the other half of the velcro that correspondes to the velcro circles on the underside. ONLY the drivers side has them *grumble*.

Sticky sided velcro? Comes in strips. I've used to to hold heavy samples on foam core boards. Can be cut to fit. Think that might work?

Driving home from the dealership in my new MCSm, I almost wrecked when the rubber mat bunched-up under the pedals.

Self-adhesive industrial-strength Velcro (hook side) on the underside of the mat fixed the problem, and I have been motoring happily ever since -- seven months and almost 14,000 miles now.

This was my fix as well...

You have to be careful though, it only sticks so well to that rubber and you can rip the mat off the velcro when you try to remove the mats from the car.

The rubber mats I bought from Mini Mania (they have the "MINI" logo and I believe these are the regulation BMW mats) have velcro circles on the underside corners of the driver's side mat. Tow velcro disks are provided which screw into the floor carpet at the appropriate spots, as noted earlier in this thread. This arrangement hold the mat securely in place. If you don't have this velcro feature, you should get mats which have it.

I bought the MINI-brand rubber mats from Morristown MINI, and they came with the screw-in velcro anchors for the driver's side, but did not arrive with the velcro self-sticky disks for the underside of the mat. Morristown MINI said they should be included and offered to exchange the mats for me, but I decided that it was just a easy to purchase some self-sticking velcro locally and be done with it. Evidently there is a quality issue with the packaging of the floor mats...some have the anchor set, some don't, and some have incomplete anchor sets.

My rubber mats didn't have the velco anchor, but the cloth ones did. Since the SA installed the cloth mats in September, I didn't even notice. They work for both mats though, I just pulled out the cloth and put in the rubber and they (well, it, just driver's side) stuck.
