What's with the slit in the door cubby?

Anyone know what the little cutout section in the door storage area is for? It looks like it could possibly hold a straw... but not sure what you'd need that for in your door

I just noticed it the other day.

Good question! I noticed that in a loaner car a couple of weeks ago. I have no idea what it's for but I am curious too. What the heck is it for anyway?

I know just what you mean, and I've followed a thread on this before, and no one seems to know! I guess it doesn't have to be for anything, and could simply be a manufacturing by-product...but it's so visible!
