Configurator changes?

Maybe I went crazy but wasn't power fold mirrors part of the cold weather package? I plan on ordering the car today but noticed this when I went through for the one billionth time...

No, it wasn't. Talk to your MA about adding them.

Going4Speed you're not going crazy, it was part of the cold weather package. I was configuring my car (for the 10 billionth time) today as I was contemplating the folding mirrors (again), come to find out it no longer gave me the window that suggested for an extra few bucks adding the cold weather package.

I'm with you, I know it was part of the cold weather package not that long ago, probably a mistake? Or they changed their minds?

I think there has been a mistake in the configurator. When I was configuring my car few weeks ago, it was showing powerfold heated mirrors as part of the cold weather package. I placed my order on 09/26 and my dealership faxed me a copy of the production sheet for verification. On that production sheet, I do not see powerfold heated mirrors as part of the cold weather package.

Pity, I was hoping that was an early change for next model year without the price increase. Honestly, it would be a cool gadget if they threw it in but I wouldn't have much need for it other than, "Hey, watch this!"

My MCS was configured and ordered in March. It was definitely not part of the Cold Weather Package at that time.

You are definitely not crazy - at least on this count :-)

I sent my configuration from MiniUSA to my MA last Monday (10/08), and it specifically included the Powerfold option as part of the package. I thought I had gone through the order confirmation with a fine toothcomb, but I missed the fact that the content of the package had changed - but not the price!

This is a bit of a disappointment since the powerfold was the option I really wanted, and the heated stuff basically came for free. Now that's all I have.

My car is supposed to complete on Monday (10/15) so I'm sure it's too late to do anything at the factory, I'll see what I can do with the dealer.

I'm pretty sure this was a goof in the configurator...

Apparently, MINI changed the cold weather package on the 08 convertibles to include the power folding mirrors (and also upped the price to $500). At one point, the 07 hardtops were also (and wrongly) changed to reflect the 08 convertible prices and packages. MINI quickly changed things back but must have forgotten to remove the power folding mirrors from the cold weather package when they did so. Thus, I don't believe that they were ever really part of the cold weather package for the 07 hardtops even though the configurator showed they were for quite a few weeks.

I expect that once the 08 hardtops are announced that the power folding mirrors will indeed be part of the cold weather package, but they'll also see the price jump up to $500 as well.

I just got back from placing my order and got the Cold Weather Package. The spec sheet my MA printed out for me clearly showed the Powerfold Mirrors as part of the Cold Weather Package. The package was also still listed as $300.

They won't renege on this will they?....

you'd better call your MA and ask him to check your current vehicle inquiry to see if they are listed.

Oh well there goes more $$$$$

Anyone find out more about this issue? I e-mailed my MA Friday, but never got a response. I'm a little concerned because I really wanted this option and when I placed my order, I was pleasantly surprised to find it was included with the Cold Wx package. My vehicle is on order, and will probably begin production soon. I'd hate to miss out on this because of MINI's back-and-forth!

They showed up in the cold package in my configuration but the window sticker showed the cold package to include heated mirrors with no mention of powerfold.

It wasn't originally included in the Cold Weather Package, but then, during the Great Configurator Glitch of Late '07, when all of the pricing changes for the convertibles accidentally were applied across the board the CWP description changed to include the powerfold mirrors (and the price went up to $500). They relatively quickly realized their mistake, and changed all of the prices back. But...not the CWP description.

So, in short, what TheOfficeMaven said.

They've probably only now noticed it once people who ordered during the time that the configurator was wrong started getting their CWP equipped cars, only to find out they didn't have the powerfold mirrors.

If you're affected by this I'd call up your MA to see what they can "do for you". They might say that it was a mistake, sorry about your luck, that'll be $300 more dollars for the foldy mirrors. Or they might admit that it was their/MINI's mistake, and add in the powerfold mirrors to your order gratis. But if your car's already in/through production I wouldn't expect it to come w/ the powerfold mirrors unless you ordered them separately or as part of the convenience package.

My MA e-mailed this morning to say that the CWP still shows the powerfolding mirrors, and thus still included with my order. My MINI hasn't been assigned a production date yet, so I want to make sure they're included. My MA assures me they are...so I hope this doesn't become an issue.

I am not surprised that there are inconsitencies in the tool. I have been working the Quality Engineering field for last 15 years, and while I was performing the hundreds of configs before I placed my order, I found and reported 3 bugs in the configurator.

I got in touch with my MA re: the powerfold/Cold Weather Pkg issue...here's her response...

"Powerfold heated mirros are not an offered option with the cold weather package. I do not not why your build sheet says it but is not even possible for you to have both. It is one or the other: power fold mirrors or the cold weather pack."

So...this seems to contradict what Wolfshiem's MA said..

Who's right????!?!?! :impatient

Just took delivery on Saturday. I have the cold weather package, and do not have the power fold. My car was built 9/23.

When your configuration was given to you did the Cold Weather Package show it included the Powerfold Mirrors?

Power fold is for parking in tight European parking spaces. It doesn't really have much to do with cold weather. The cold weather package does include heated mirrors.

My configuration shows Powerfold Mirrors in the Cold Weather package. I ordered on 9/22, built week 40 (finished on 10/6, I think). I should take delivery early next week, so I'm curious now. It's not make-or-break, but I will be angry if they're not there.
