Heated wing mirrors

Hi all
At what outside temp do the heated mirrors kick in. It does not say in the manual.
Thanks Tim

I'm fairly certain they're on anytime the ignition is on.

You just can't tell in the warmer because the outside temp is higher than the mirror temp.

There's no outside air temp sensor built into the system to engage the heated mirrors, IIRC.

I believe you are correct.

Quick question:

I was under the impression the Cold Weather Package included heated washer jets, heated mirrors and heated seats. Now on the online configurator at miniusa.com it only lists seats and jets. I took delivery of my R56 MCS way back in April and have often thought my mirrors weren't working correctly, but never got around to contacting my local dealer. Maybe I don't have heated mirrors after all?

I took delivery in May and have removed my mirrors to measure them for Multivex mirrors. They definitely have wiring for heating elements in the mirrors. However, I've never tried them. Not sure how one turns them on.

That's not true. On Page 31 of the owner's manual, it says "At outside temperatures below a certain limit, both exterior mirrors are automatically heated while the engine is running or the ignition switched on."

There was quite a discussion on Mini2 last winter about when the heated element came on. I can't recall exactly what that was, but seemed it was just above freezing.
