How long's the wait after when the car is at "Awaiting Transport"
 

to the West Coast?

Well mine has been waiting 5 days now (East Coast).

A week for mine at least.

Forever!!! and each day just gets longer and longer.

Do you mean how long will the car sit at Southampton, or how long will it sit at the VDC once it arrives in the US?

They seem to move through Southampton fairly quickly - mine was only there for a day or two. Once loaded on a ship, based on the dates I've seen in signatures, they seem to take 7-10 days to reach east coast ports and maybe an additional 1-2 weeks to reach Port Hueneme.

How long has it taken for everyone's Minis to ship out to the dealer after they arrived at a VDC?

Mines been awaiting shipping for almost 2 weeks now. How long does it take to get it on the ship?

In most cases bookings for ships are made weeks in advance so as long as the car arrives at South Hampton Port on time the wait can be from a few days to a week or so, all depending on timing.
If you have been at the port waiting for a ship for two weeks something has happened as "usually" it does not take that long. ASK MINI will not be of any help with an answer so only option you have is to wait it out. :sad:
Since you are on the west coast your Mini will be on one of the Wallenius ship's, so keep checking your vin on the WW pages and it will eventually show what ship you will be on. Good Luck and hang in there. :wink:

Also the Owners Loung is not the most reliable, you can be on a ship and at sea before it updates.

If they think it's going to Leisure World, though, they might place it on a slow ship, though. :lol:

The link below is one of the WW pages. If you use "auto cargo" and enter your vin # that will give you the ships name you are booked on.
Once you have a ship you will see a booking number, entering that on that page will show you all the Mini's on that ship. If you watch that
page well the ship is loading you will see what time your Mini is actually onboard. Good Luck :thumbsup:

As for traking the ship you are on it is about a 50/50 chance. If you ship has the AIS hardware & software and your Captain chooses to use the system, you can track her. If not you will be in the dark once she is not near land and able to track on the AISfree sight.

AskMINI says my MCSa has been at the port awaiting transport since the 9th. Two WW ships have departed since then for the east coast, but my baby wasn't aboard. I'm curious about whether there are shipping lines other than WW that I might check. Also, I live in central Texas, so I'm wondering where the nearest VDC is located.

K-Line is the other line that Mini uses and, unfortunately, no tracking information is available. Your car could be halfway across the ocean and you wouldn't know it.

I can't tell you whether your car would come to Port Hueneme in California and go east to Texas, or whether it would come west from one of the East Coast distribution centers.

Hopefully, one of the Texas owners will speak to that.

There is a VDC in Charleston,NC. The next WW ships will be the Faust departing South Hampton 8/21 and arriving SC on 9/4. Next ship will be the Freedom departing South Hampon 9/21 and arriving SC on 9/8. Good Luck :thumbsup:

I'm hoping mine's on a K-line ship since it's been at least 2 weeks it's been awaiting shipping.

That may not be a good sign. Someone noted on another thread that K-Line doesn't have car carriers that come to the West Coast. Apparently, East Coast only.

Your Mini will be on one of he WW ships, since those are the only ships to the west coast. One possability why you had a long wait is that usually there is a ship each week. The last one in July was the 30th and the next one was on 8/11 so a little more than a week and now the next one is the 20th. When was your car completed ?

Unless things have changed since I ordered my last three MINI's, the K-Line ships do indeed come over to the west cost. All three of my 2005 MCS's were shipped via K-Line to California.

Mini was built 8/13. Today 8/17, the WW website finally showed the car booked on the Boheme departing 8/20.

Called my dealer and he confirmed it's still waiting for transport. I can't remember when it complete production, but it's been at least a couple weeks now. I can understand the wait if they're doing something, but for it to just be sitting there is no cool.

Guess things have changed then. :wink: Only the WW ships transport to the west coast now.

I don't think that's correct. I went to the Port of Hueneme website and found that on Sunday the Centaurus Leader is scheduled to dock there with a load of BMW cars.

There is no Mini notation, nor is there one for the Aug. 21 docking of the Maersk Tide, which is a WW ship. Obviously, BMWs and Minis are lsited together.

A photo from shipspotting.com confirms that the Centaurus Leader is a K-Line ship, so apparently they do still make West Coast runs. It may be good news for those of you who have been waiting in limbo. Your cars may be on the way.

I stand corrected then, but this is a first in the last two months since I have been involved with tracking the ships. WW ships have been the only ones arriving at Port Hueneme since then. Yes the schedule for Port Hueneme only shows the toal count for BMW's, does not seperate Mini's.
But if Mini's are on the Centaurus Leader then the only way to track them is on the Owners Lounge and lately for us in the bay area it has been rather useless, it is still showing my Mini at the VDC with a delivery date of the 15th, and I took delivery on the 14th, and the date was chaged three times in seven days.So it could be very hard to tell where a Mini is at. :sad:

Back in April when I got my car, I wasn't aware of K-Line ships coming in to Port Hueneme, either. But maybe since mine was on a WW ship, I wasn't paying attention.

However, there was a Florida buyer at the same time who was going crazy because his car was showing at Southampton for weeks after it finished production. It ended up being on a K-Line ship. If there were West Coast buyers going through the same thing, I think we would have heard about it.
