2008's: When can I order?
 

I won't be able to order my new Mini for a few months yet. Does anyone have any insights as to when the 2008's will be availble to order? I asked a dealer...and he states he doesn't know...probably because he wants me to order now. Any insights would be appreciated.

Your dealer may not know exact dates. What kind of time frame are you looking at? MINI will switch vins sometime this summer to reflect 08's. In addition, your dealer will have monthly allocations and you should ask him what his allocations will be like in October. I ordered an R53 in May 03 and it was built in Sept 03 and came with 2003 vins. Here on the West Coast there is rather long waiting period.

I want to order in the August timeframe...but I'm flexible. This car is something I want to do...not NEED to do.

I was hoping to do the same as you but when I asked my MA he said that the 2008's wouldn't be arriving until february. I'm also a bit suspicious that he may have just been telling me that so I would buy sooner, but I don't think I can wait that long! :eek2:

Yeah, I'm trying to be patient as well. I told myself I'm going to acheive a specific monthly payment, which means lots of savings for my down payment. I'm not selling my MX-5 or I'd have done so already. I was going to keep the Escort, but I don't see any reason to do that anymore really... But it's proving to be more difficult than I hoped and 2008 is starting to look like the year model for me...

And this is after lining one up in 2003 and then canceling because I heard abou the turbocharged, non-chrysler engine in 2007! so I've been waiting patiently as it is....

I'm in the camp of ordering a MCS later this year, possibly early next year. My ultimate hope is that by the time I'm ready to place my order, they will have started making the '08 Minis with AWD. I know they haven't 'officially' announced anything yet but here's to hoping. :)

The Clubman is coming in Feb 08 probably in Cooper trim with the S coming later. MINI has not made any official announcement that should come around Sept at the Frankfurt Auto show. Europe will get the first batch. Anticipating all-wheel-drive in 08 is a non starter. This is still in the rumor stage or should I say guessing phase. MA's are paid on commission and want to sell cars today especially if there are cars on the lot. You might try putting a deposit on an 08 which should peek the MA's interest and then spec a car when the dealer has better info. Good Luck
