NCS Expert can't read from 4 modules
Hi all, I wanted to see if anyone has any advice about best approach for a small issue I'm having.
I am running NCS Expert to read all modules from car and will modify some. I am having issues retrieving the current coding (.TRC files) from 4 modules (RLS, SZL, SPEG & FRM). I read on a few coding sites with NCS Expert, that it you can reset modules back to factory (there is a document from bmwcoging.com that showa how to do so properly adn NOT using the blank .MAN file, as that is not the proper way) I can try that first, then see what custom coding I have lost, then retrieve the codes from NCS Expert (fingers crossed I do, Or I lost the custom coding in that module, for no reason) and then adjust and reload... lets hope this works. |
Are there other modules in the car that you can read/write to or are those 4 the only ones you've attempted to recode?
Can you connect to those modules with other standard tools software, like ISTA? When coding with a blank .man file you need to make sure your profile settings are correct. There are lots of tutorials online on how to do this. |
Hi Mr. Bean,
yeah I manged to pull/modify the code/upload code back to 4 other modules. I am still researching a lot adn it seems something to do with version of daten files and the edibas.bin.ini file... I'm gonna read more, but I just find it weird that SOME modules can be read, in NCS Expert and re-coded adn some can't. as for using Rheingold or INPA, those softwares can read/access ALL modules, thankfully. So that makes me lean towards daten files... the can us running fine, but I just wanted to customise, and am surprised I'[mm getting these errors. I've never seen these errors on my e53 or e31 (very limited code changing options on e31) |
Just for info, in case of damaged FRM due to battery disconnect, can restaure easy to factory , no need NCS Expert, loook at video.

thanks very much for the video, but I dont have that software to do that modification.
