What Is This!?

Okay so i bought my 09 R55 in September of 2018 and i cannot believe that i never spotted this strange plug in my Center arm rest, under the slider door. i did some Google searches but came up with nothing what i thought was maybe a car phone hook up. Here's a picture of the hook up.

It's the base for a optional phone charger.

Ah i re worded my search and only the early iPhone uses this charger.
