Cheap, good exhaust?

Hey guys. So I've been looking around trying to find some way to bring a bit more sound to my exhaust without breaking the bank. I thought about getting a new downpipe but, idk how much that will effect the sound. That said, does anyone know a good cheap way to get a bit more sound from the exhaust for a decent price? I really don't wanna spend several hundred on an axle back and I definitely don't want it to sound ricey

Down pipe will change the sound, but not a whole lot. My car has a catless down pipe and OEM cat back, and it sounds like stock, just a tiny bit more volume. Wife didn’t even notice I changed it out.

Next step, would be to remove the second cat and resonator, and leave the stock rear mufflers. I’m not convinced that will sound the greatest, because you’re still flowing through stock sized exhaust pipes.

You should be be able to find a Magnaflow system for $6-700. I think that’s the best option for an aftermarket exhaust without breaking the bank. Keep the stock downpipe and second cat, and add the Magnaflow system.

If the wife didn't notice, that might be for the best haha
But yeah, I kinda figured it would help get a tad more volume. My biggest thing is, people say to get rid of cats or to get bigger diameter pipe but, this is my first turbo car and I am basically clueless in the effects of altering exhaust on a turbo engine. Of course, I want to retain any performance it has, if not enhance, but I want more sound. Is what you said something that would keep the power where it's at?

Thanks for helpin out a noob! haha

Here is a list of confirmed exhausts for R55s. As long as the british pound is weak Scopion would be cheapest (not including magnaflow) to buy, Oranje has it for around $849 la last time i checked

We carry pretty much all the brands. That will show you the price range. Good luck with the R55, I came close to buying an R55 JCW.

"Good" and "Cheap" are two words that generally cannot coexist. The old adage "you get what you paid for" usually applies. - Only my opinion of course.
