Checkered Roof

Has anyone put a checkered roof on your Clubman? Is there a better place than the dealer?

I'd say if you're feeling brave enough, do it yourself. I've never done one myself but, with the right tools and some patience, I'm sure it can't be too bad to get on there, especially since it's going on the top.

The dealer is going to probably sub it out. However they are using vinyl that is already pre made for your car. You can get some recommendations for local vinyl shops and take a chance. I went through 3 shops before finally finding one that did a good job. It is a job for someone who is detail oriented or with loads of experience.

My roof was done an first with checkered pattern and then next two times with solid colors. To do it right you have to have good blade skills to trim it and/or skills getting it under the moldings, antenna, etc. And also you don't want to catch dirt, bugs, air bubbles, etc. Isn't really all that easy to do.

DIY or a graphic shop can do it. Some oem options here:

Note on the genuine MINI option you will have some with or without the sunroof.

@minnie.the.moocher Did you get any pics with the Checkered on? What kind of price at the vinyl shops?

Did the roof part red and the glass checked, could have done it all checked. The place I did it was pretty bad at the job and the edges came up on the glass. They redid it and it still peeled up. They charged a bit over $300 but in the end I wound up not paying and pulled it off and went Purple for a year. After than I switched to Titanium brushed metallic and love it. The checks were printed on perforated film so light still comes through.

That looks pretty cool! Mine doesn't have a sunroof. I am planning on doing the larger squares on the whole roof, but staying inside those Clubman side humps.

I had a union jack put on my sunroof by a company called Fastsigns. They charged $200 and printed the flag themselves. This was nine years ago and it still looks good.

Fastsigns is a nationwide franchise they have a locator on their website.

Thanks for the tip! I'll have to check them out. There are several around Dallas.

Went by 2 sign places today. Signarama - $700 Fast Signs said that they only do commercial vehicles. I may have to tackle this myself...

I did the perforated checkered sunroof graphic on my Clubman. They were precut. Got them on Ebay for around $55.00. I like it a lot.

It was pretty easy. I used a spray bottle of water with a tiny bit of detergent, sprayed the window, laid the graphic down and used a plastic squeegee.

Try a different Fastsigns franchise. Individual franchises may have different rules.

I found a tint shop down from the MINI dealer that will do it for $300.
Now to decide what color... Initially I was thinking white. On the way home I was thinking that flat black on the iced chocolate might look nice.
