quick update; I spent some time last night fiddling with the after market keyfobs.....The results are in! apparently my original CAS had some damage that it didnt recognize the key in the docking. So, I used another CAS and copied the file into it. this time, they key worked. the only issue is the after market fob was supposed to be a comfort access type, open examination and comparing the circuit board to an OEM keyfob, they were different. In my case, the car came without keys, and this is the best I can get, on my own, until I find a true after market key fob with CA option.
Left is ebay key fob. Right is OEM key fob. Left is ebay key fob. Right is OEM key fob.
after copying the eeprom to another CAS, the after market fob worked fine minus the comfort access of course. So, since I want to sell the car and don't want any potential owner be discouraged. I ordered the OEM key from the dealer along with two cut blades. With shipping the total was around 275 with a discount.
The new key was pretty much plug and play. Now, the dealer said they need to further program the car to enable the comfort access option. a visit to the dealer will cost about $175 per hour plus down time of waiting. So, I did some digging and wow, it was tricky lol.
take notes: when you get a CA key, you need to use ISTA/D to:
1- disable all keys but two
2- then, you need to change the "personalization" of the new key from typically 3 or 4 to 1 or 2.
it took few hours to discover these simple steps and now the car is complete. It will be buttoned up in the next few days and posted here and CL for sale.
This is awesome! I rebuilt a wrecked Clubman, but I’m a little scared of a flooded one. One question I have is have you ever done anything with adaptive Headlights? That’s the only thing I haven’t been able to fix on mine and I’m tired of the warning covering up my digital speedometer. I made a whole post on it last night in the Clubman talk under Adaptive Headlights if you would like more information.
Glad to see someone else reviving these sweet cars from the grave! Hope you an help me with my last step!

Thanks for the feedback my friend. Flooded is tricky but easy if you have the write SW i.e. Winkfp, ncs and ISTAD.
did you get the MULF working?
I have ista/d and ista/P but the MULF is on the MOST network, everything else works but Ista/p says it can't communicate with Mulf, swapped it out with a different one (same year of production, same firmware) but still does not work.

The replacement MULF worked just fine. Check the wires. Istad should be able to walk you through the diagnosis.
