Driving to work today the JCW temp gauge started creeping up while sitting in traffic. Reached ~103 degrees Celsius (~217 degrees F). As soon as I started moving it dropped back to its normal 90 degree C range.
Checked coolant after it was parked for a couple hours and it was fine. Did some errands on the way home (two hours of driving) and it was in the usual range as well.
Did an oil change when i got home using Mobil 1 5w-30 and a Mini filter just in case as I havent done one since taking delivery. Was going to wait until 15K miles as the dealer claimed they performed one prior to selling but figure 3K mile intervals would be safer anyway.
I'll keep an eye on it and see if the condition returns but otherwise, the Clubman has been alot of fun to drive!!!

Funny, I brought my OBD to work to help with a coworker's car. On the way home, I got it hooked up just to check out the coolant temp for a 30 mins mix 80 and 65mph drive, it was hovering between 168 - about 189F or so (75-87C), with the ebay knocked off Forge. Read it on prior mod FAQ https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...fications.html from SSV that:
9) Upgraded Front Mount Intercooler (FMIC): This will provide slight HP gains with the stock engine, the main benefit is reducing the intake air temperature (IAT) so power can be maintained for extended periods. I have done enough datalogging both before and after installing my FMIC to show that the stock intercooler can not handle sustained periods of full throttle acceleration, IAT goes to 50C above ambient very quickly. But with an upgraded FMIC, it only goes up 9C (~50F). That means keeping the full engine power all the way down the straight when your foot is to the floor the whole time. Also this is important to support an ECU tune for increased performance. Installation is a bit more involved, but easily DIY

That's describing the benefits of an upgraded intercooler for reducing Intake Air Temperature, not coolant temperature. The intercooler won't do anything for coolant temp, and the thermostat +radiator won't do anything for IAT.
R55 has been a dream come true so far. Its got utility, its economical and its fun!

Previous owner claims its been done about 2 years ago along with a new clutch. Clutch feels fine so im gonna see how it goes. Im going to catch up on other areas of maintenance that have been put off first and swap out the clutch possibly this summer :-)
almost due for another oil change. Car has been a fantastic daily driver constantly bringing back 30-32mpg. As such, my OBC computes estimated range to almost 500 miles to the tank!!!
Its snowing today so i’ll get to test out the all season tires on the way home :-) Very excited!
I also bought a Craven Speed short shifter from a member here. Perfect timing as my wife drove the car to Yoga last week and complained that the shifter was vague and mushy. Cant wait to get it installed!!!
Looks like Cravenspeed came out with a new retaining system for the shifter... Will order it up when its time for the shifter to get installed. Was hoping to do it next week but i'm not sure how much time i'll have so I'll have to play it by ear.
Anyone know if the NM Shifter box upgrade is needed to get the full adjustable travel out of the Cravenspeed shifter?
Just ordered the Cravenspeed Shifter Bushing and NM Shifter Box from WayMotorWorks. Cant wait to get it all here and installed.
Going to keep my shift boot and OEM JCW **** for now. Couldnt justify dropping another $200 on the upgrades there but it all depends if I find myself constantly adjusting the shifter height or if it stays static...
Hawk HPS Pads and Zimmerman Rotors arrived the other day. Need to get the truck off the lift so I can get the Clubman up. Going to flush the brake fluid as well

Installed the Cravenspeed Shift Well and Shift **** the other day. **** didnt come with assembly instructions LOL so I had to do some googling but everything looks great.
Havent driven the car yet since I've done the brake job (want time to "Bed" the pads properly and work has been busy) bit I really like the way the ball shift **** feels in hand.
Should be able to install the modified Cravenspeed ScanGauge bracket by the end of the week and bring the car with me to work. Will be nice to finally monitor temps and pressures...
Did you put in that NM shifter box cover with the Cravenspeed short shifter arm? Does everything fit without modifications or is there any interference between the lower lid and the arm inside or the heat shield/exhaust outside? Thanks.
