Whirring - fuel pump? Normal?

I hear a whirring in the area of my right rear wheel well occasionally (2013 Clubman, non-S). I notice it when I return home in the evening, it's very infrequent. From my research of other posts it sounds like it's the fuel pump but what I haven't learned from any of the posts is if this is normal or if it's something that is going to need to be fixed.

Can anyone advise me on this? I'm just about at 48,500 miles so am close to being out of warranty.

Thanks in advance!

The MINIs, like other BMW vehicles, seem to have some kind of pump (personally, I'm not sure what it is) at the rear of the vehicle that will occasionally run for a while after the vehicle is shut off. In my experience, this is normal.

Might be normal, that's the side where the leak diagnosis pump and the EVAP system sets and when you shut down you can get a pump noise or you can hear the tank expand.
