Map DVD for 2009 Clubman with Mini Connected

I'd like to inexpensively update the map DVD on my 2009 Clubman S with Mini Connected system. The navigation screen is built into the speedometer and there is a small joystick in the center console near the cup holders to control it and view car data and settings

1. Can someone tell me how to eject the existing DVD? If I can see the label in the DVD I think it will help me know which updated DVD I need (ibus, ccc, professional, high, etc). Maybe someone can tell me exactly what I need to buy. I don't find any map updates at miniusa either...

2. Can someone direct me to an inexpensive seller? I'd like to buy disks on eBay but the description says it only covers 2004-2008 model years of Mini Coopers and a whole bunch of BMWs. My Mini was built 09/2008 but is a 2009 model year.

I've been trying to figure out what I need for a couple hours and am pretty confused.

Steve-
My 2009 Clubman was also built in 09/2008 and I have navigation, as does my wife's 2007.

1. Ejecting the DVD is easy - I'm posting this based on memory, but there is a button on the silver CD player that pops it off...the nav DVD is under that...can't remember much else though.

2. We purchased a 2015 DVD's from our dealer at $200....couldn't find it anywhere else cheaper. I looked at the ebay options, but I wasn't confident that any of them would work and I couldn't find anything here on NAM about them. I didn't want to risk it.

Finally, I don't think that our cars have MINI Connected....I believe that came out in the 2010 or 2011 models....I don't know much about it....

-Steve

Thanks for your help. The owners manual downloads indicate Mini Connected is available for 2008 and up Clubmans. http://www.miniusa.com/content/miniu...r-manuals.html

This is a nitpicking point, but the labels on that webpage are not completely accurate. It is using the term "with MINI Connected" to generically mean "with display screen". If you open up a 2008 to 2010 manual, you won't find any mention of MINI Connected. MINI Connected (which connects the screen with some smartphone apps) was a new feature introduced in 2011 and it is a completely separate function from navigation (except that they both use the display screen).

Your car (2009) has the CCC (also called Professional) navigation system. Look for DVD maps with that designation. if you want the official, latest maps, they are $200 from the dealer or you can find used and pirated copies on eBay.

Not DVD map discs. They only support updating the newer flash and hard drive navigation systems (2011+).

Thank you for the info.

I checked with them. They don't provide anything for my car. Another poster on this thread is correct, they only provide for HD based systems.

I can view my Android contacts on the Mini's screen via Bluetooth, make phone calls via Bluetooth, access my 8GB iPod Nano 2nd generation music on the screen via a basic USB cable (didn't need the special Mini cable), TPMS information (no psi though) and other maintenance information like oil change, brake fluid change, GPS navigation, CD, AM/FM radio.

It could be that Mini Connected is being upgraded every model year as connectivity improvements are made, or maybe Mini decided to retroactively call it Mini Connected  But I think you're correct that the owner's manual does not ever refer to Mini Connected, nor does my Clubman's window sticker ever refer to it. It just says "Navigation" is one of the options.

I found someone on eBay selling sealed 2014 maps for Mini Coopers. They include the literature and are sealed, so I think they are authentic, and if they are fakes someone put a lot of effort into them. $44.99 shipped. 2014 is good enough for me. It will be 5 years newer than what I have now.

I bought one of these a couple months ago. Works perfectly. Recommended!

If you want to switch out for the 2011-and-up Mini Connected system, it can be done but prepare to spend a lot of time, money and effort to do it. There is a retro fit thread over in the Music & navigation forum that details it. Notably, you will need to buy a rather expensive emulator to trick the navigation computer into thinking it is allowed to function in your car.

(retrofitting the 2007-10 system is practically plug and play by comparison.)

What did you learn? I was just about to buy a set of the 2015 maps for like $15 on eBay but then I saw it says it only works up to 2008. I have the 2010 Clubman S

I tried a legit 2014 disc, and what might have been a copied 2015 disc from eBay in my 2009 Clubman and they both worked fine. Sorry I don't know specifically about the 2010 Clubman and which discs are compatible.

Most likely for the 1st gen MINIs.

You need to check for the map system your car uses i.e. only DVD based, DVD based CIC - high/professional/business variant.
