R55 2016 Clubman
Only 300 miles on ours so far. Only issue is that the drivers door handle Comfort control to lock the car only works on the first push of the button when the car is cold/not driven for a while, and only in the garage! Outside, even for a short drive, it take 3 pushes to lock. Passenger door and barn doors work perfect, especially the under bumper kick, first time every time. Unlock works on one push every time. Very odd issue. I'll bring it in next week some time.
Yes, the xDrive system and the ALL4 systems are similar but operate very differently. Like bratling mentioned, xDrive is RWD biased and a little more advanced than the ALL4 system MINI uses. ALL4, on the Countryman anyway (haven't read anything specific on the Clubman and the new ALL4 system that would suggest otherwise), torque is normally split between the axles at a 58:42 ratio (front:rear). As the car speeds up, more power is transferred to the front for better fuel consumption, but ALL4 is capable of sending more power to the rear axle is conditions call for it (ex: front wheels are on ice and have no traction). xDrive can also send more power to a specific rear wheel (torque vectoring), which is something ALL4 cannot do.

When you exit the car after a drive, when you open the driver's door, just the driver's door is unlocked. As you press the CA button, instead of locking the drivers door, it actually unlocks the passenger door first. Then, it is designed to not accept input for about 1.5 seconds so most people press and press and by that third or fourth click, then both doors lock.
There are a few different ways to handle this:
- Press the button as you normally do then wait a second or two and press again to lock both doors
- Turn off the "Lock after start driving" feature in Settings
- Press the unlock button on the inner door handle when you're leaving so the only thing for the CA button to do is lock both doors
It is very annoying at first, but once you know what's happening, it makes it a little more bearable. Starting with MY2017 models, MINI is changing the programming for the CA button so the default is to lock all doors once you leave. I suspect newer versions of the software will have this revision in place as well for older models.
This is normal behavior and has to do with the weird way the locks are programmed:

I found the above info is sort of correct on my 2016 MCC. First press of the CA button does not unlock the passenger door. Waiting 2 seconds between presses DOES lock the doors on the second press. Also, unlocking all the doors before exiting does indeed allow one button press to lock all doors at exit. This is what we are doing, but it is still annoying if you are driving by yourself. I hope there is a software update to fix it eventually.
Heads up for the new Clubman owners - you'll probably get something in the mail if you're affected by this small recall:

I have my production number for the 2017 Clubman S All4 I ordered a couple of weeks ago. I went with BRG/white with white hood stripes. I skipped power and leather seats so I could load it with the technology tweaks I wanted.
I'm sizing down from a Volvo XC90 and my wife still drives her Nissan Pathfinder so, despite the "supersized MINI" descriptions, this thing is going to feel like a go-kart to both of us, as well as turning in otherworldly levels of fuel economy compared to the V8 and V6 of the Volvo and Nissan.
But, just having the production number is like being in a long-distance relationship. I have a vague memory, some pictures, and videos of other people driving MINIs..... Late September is my prediction for when it will arrive and it can't come soon enough.

/phew
just finished reading through this entire thread.
1) why haven't ADMINs given us a new section? wtf?
2) is there any news about the barn door lights not designed to also show braking? this is a bit disturbing to me as well. Ive been rear ended multiple times in my other mini and other vehicles several times in just the last couple of years. people re pretty much idiots these days. More would always be better.
3) people coming to this thread to say they don't like the clubman? wtf? seriously? narcissism is strong so many today...
4) this is only day 4 with mine, but I do love this car. the ride is delightful, the handling is great.. I have the 18" wheels. breaks are a bit soft.. I suspect some break-in required as other's mention.
one slight mod I'm thinking about would be Cold Air Intake. like the K&N's etc. inexpensive, small boost to power.. and throat.
of course the car came with the "Resistall" gimmicky "paint sealant". I'm a big Fan of Zaino Polymer Show car polish.. think Ill clay bar and start adding a few layers soon.

Nope. Round Rock, TX (Austin). Had to drive to The Woodlands (Houston) to find this one. Looks even better with some dark ceramic tint. I'll try and post a pic after lunch.
So, how do they treat you at Woodlands? I'm right between Houston and Baton Rouge and don't know which way to go for the best negotiations and service. I'm open to advice and stories.
They didn't budge on price or trade in. Price was only discounted 6 or 700 off MSRP. Houston has a lot of MINI dealers. Momentum, Clear Lake, and Woodlands. If you're flexible on model and options I'd shop around. I'll have my MINI serviced at MINI of Austin so I can't comment on that.
Im thinking of a CAI...maybe.. slightly better aspiration is good. maybe exhaust down the road..but just a smidge throatier.. the challenge is to not invoke that droney sound on highway.. we'll see. nothing too much though..
Marc, thanks. I had corresponded with Clear Lake via email a couple times. The internet sales lady seems pretty MINI gung-ho and willing to research things, so I look forward to checking them out first. But yes... I do plan on shopping around. Too many emergencies popping up now and this may never happen if things continue on their current course. Everybody has bad years once in a while and it may be our turn this year. I'll get it eventually!
BTW, you and Xbarbarian have real pretty rides. Thanks again.

I've run into a snag, trying to install an OutMotoring trailer receiver hitch on my 2016 Clubbie. The bumper is off; when I try to hang the hitch on the bumper support studs, a plastic part which I think is the backup warning device, is clearly in the way. OutMotoring isn't open today; it looks like the instructions don't include this part. I'm hoping someone here has encountered this and can tell me if there is a workaround, or is this fatal? Thanks!
