Better mileage with sport mode?

I Have a 2008 clubman, automatic with the sport package and paddle shifters. I'm not a big fan of the paddle shifters, but I do like the ride better in sport mode. I'm wondering if anyone knows if you get better mileage in regular drive mode, or sport mode. I drive mostly city, with occasional freeway miles. Thanks in advance.

Not really... When mine was OEM everything, gas mileage was horrible when on sport mode with the extra sensitive throttle response - it was a blast though but realized that freeway driving go me the best results. Averaged 39.X on sport mode at speeds of 75 mph. City is at 29.X mpgs at best. So I babied it on the first 3 gears but whats the point, right?

I would say it's practically impossible to get better mileage in sport mode because the transmission up shifts at higher RPMs in sport mode.

It's my understanding that sport mode only changes throttle position/map, shift points, and reduces steering assistance. It doesn't change anything to do with the suspension, just the throttle and steering.
