new springs knock please help!!!!
 

So I installed new preformance springs on my 2011 r55 . I made sure everything was done correctly. Now when I turn left or right the front end knocks. Can someone please help!!!!

I don't have an answer for you, but hoping someone else does chime in. I recently installed H&R springs, Koni yellows, and FCM bump stops to my R57. I haven't noticed knocking in corners, per se, but a clunking in general over bumps. Local dealer (which, seemingly by all accounts, is well-respected by the MINI community) tightened up all fittings during the subsequent alignment, but I still have clunking. Perhaps a different source than your knocking?

What did you unhook when installing? I think I recall the Bentley manual saying you should unbolt the tie rod... did you do that? Re-check the tightness?

This is a common thing in the Subaru world. The culprit is usually not having the springs seated correctly. When they compress and rebound, the springs rotate slightly, the knock is typically the spring catching on it's mount. If there is no way to re-seat them, try putting some grease down where the mount meets the spring.

The other knock usually comes from getting shorter springs and results from the shock itself bottoming out.

If you loosened the sway bar end links during the spring install you will need to make sure they're really tight, especially if you're holding one side with an Allen wrench. If you have a thin open end wrench to hold one side and a socket for the other side that's better as the wrong can put more torque than the Allen wrench.

If the end links aren't tight you will get knocking when transitioning from left to right even when going 15 MPH, and when driving over imperfections in the road at any speed.
