Clubby ? rear spoiler removal?

Been wanting to swap to a JCW rear spoiler but unsure as to how to remove the current one.

I'd like to hear from a fellow enthusiast who has swap or added one on their clubman.

Not to hijack your thread, but I was interested in getting a spoiler for my clubman. Let me know if you decide to do your swap and sell.

I am not 100% sure, but we just bought a Clubman and we got the dealership to throw in the JCW spoiler. I got directions on how to put it on. The JCW spoiler is just glued on. I believe the stock spoiler is too. hope this helps, you might try calling your local dealer.

Thanks CZ Mate!

From further inspection it appears the factory stock spoiler is double stick taped not glued. The stealership install price was excessive.

Still would like to hear from other DIY'ers on the best advice to carefully remove without damage.

The JCW is a PITA to install.

Mine came out great, but did lots of research first.

Yes it is glued on with some special bmw glass window glue kit, that is
expensive.

Using alignment pins, was a great help also, but requires you to
drill 2 small holes in the roof.

Happy to help any So Cal folks with info.

I had a rear spoiler installed by a body shop on my 2011 and not only was the spoiler glued on it was also bolted on. There are pre-drilled holes under the head liner for the spoiler, so it may be more than just glue holding the spoiler in place.

The bolt holes are used by the factory.

After that, they have you glue it.

You would have to tear out the head liner and get into the
back air bag system to use the bolts.

Most all glue it.

I will most likely end up selling the stock spoiler once the install of the JCW one goes well.

My jcw spoiler came with some glue kit written in german so I'm covered on that.

So just to be clear... Factory ordered jcw come bolted AND glued but if it were a dealer add on its just glued with no bolts?

We just did one a few weeks ago and the work instructions from MINI did not utilize the bolt on method, only the special glue and prep kit. I din't realize the factory installed ones werre bolted in place.

Yep, and that's what the body shop did.

I have read a few forums on this and it is just glued on, if you but it after the fact. It hold on there good. My instruction I got shows it being preped and glued on.

I will be getting the glue Kit soon. My dealership said $142 for it. But going look around. If anyone knows what glue they use I would like to know. The guys was a smart ***.gov me and said "special magic MINI glue"

benefits of a spoiler?

I'm in the process of ordering a new Clubman S and, so far, have not selected the spoiler option. Are there significant benefits to having one on the Clubman?
