Homemade R53 Rear Seat Delete into R55

Back when I had my 2003 MINI, I built a platform to replace the rear seats. The back seat could only fit children or amputees, and since I had no need to transport either, I didn't see the point of keeping the seat in. The platform came out really well, considering I only used a table saw. I even managed to keep all my fingers. It looked like this and had space underneath for the jack and a first aid kit:

Since getting my Countryman, I've been trying (and failing) to sell the rear seat delete locally. I had a couple of people interested on NAM, but I didn't want to deal with shipping it because of the size and cost. My wife mentioned a couple weeks ago that she might like having the seats taken out of her Clubman. I took a shot at it this weekend, and what do you know, it fit without any modification. This was surprising to me, considering the changes from 2003 to 2010.

My wife said she'd rather have it black to blend in with the upholstery better, so we picked up a black piece of outdoor carpet from Home Depot. There's a bit of a height difference with the rear storage shelf, but otherwise looks great!

That's pretty cool that your delete just dropped in. I personally don't see the big advantage to pulling the seats out compared to just having them folded down but maybe you just carry alot of stuff. It looks very clean. Maybe when the Clubvan comes out you can pick up the full level floor?
