Do your boot doors just click open, or open wide on their own?
Question,
On your Clubmen, do your boot doors, upon remote click or press of the open-button, just click out and you then pull them, or do they push out opening completely on their own?
My '09 need to be pulled open.
An '11 loaner I am in opens by themselves.
Is it a MY change? Something my '09 should do?
Not even sure I like it... so dare I ask that people write in:
Year
Behaviour
Like it?
2009
Needs pulling
I think so - since otherwise it risks hitting something in tight parking spots

My '10 only pops open 5" or so.
After popping open if you first pull left door then both doors will usually open completely due to a piece of rubber molding which nudges the right door.
I am not sure I would want them to swing wide open with the remote button. Could bump into the garage door or a shopping cart etc.
Here is a tip on closing the 'barn' doors without having to touch the outside of the door which is usually covered in wind blown dust and snow.
I close the left door by pushing on the center molding which is usually clean.
I then close the right door by grasping the inner window sill part between my thumb and fingers of my left hand. I then sling the door closed with a sorta backhanded bowling ball release. After practicing a few times you get the 'wrist action' down.

On my '11 the passenger door flies wide open and the other door I have to open manually.
I knocked my golf clubs over more than once in the garage before I got in to the habit of checking first to see if they were in range of the door.
If I'm parked somewhere other than my garage I wait until I'm behind the MINI -or at least have a clear visual- before I open the door.

My '11 barn door on the passenger side opens all the way when I press button on my key. I kinda like it. When other people see it in the parking lot, they kinda chuckle. I guess it's because the door is so small and it haves that clicking sound when it opens. Then when they realize how small the wipers are on the small door, they chuckle again. The girls do like it more....

I love the fact that my key never comes out of my pocket. Yes i have to squeeze the handle but that is much easier with a bunch of groceries in my hand than trying to fish my key out of my pocket to press a button.
