Passenger Side Door Latches

From the moment I got my Clubbie nine days ago, I've noticed, particularly if the club door has just been opened and shut, that the passenger door seems to need to be slammed to latch. A regular amount of force just doesnt do it. Is that normal? I mentioned it to the dealer when I went by for something else, and they lubed up the hinges but the problem (if it is one) persists. Nothing looks to be out of line visually...so I guess Im just wondering if that's usual.

I have not see that at all on our Clubbi. I would continue to complain to the dealership about it if the problem continues.

The car is relatively airtight. That's why the window goes down slightly and then automatically goes back up when you close the door. I find that I have to slam the hatch on my MCS when both doors are closed. It may just be that what you're experiencing is normal.

My passenger door is like that as well but you don't need to slam it, just can't let it close on it's own like the driver's door.

The window goes down when you open it and up when you close it to seal into the channel in the weatherstrip above it, not to relieve any overpressure. That's what the cutouts in the rear behind the interior panels by the bumpers are for.

Thanks guys...I'll keep an eye on it. It does seem to be better since they lubed it...it was happening every time I closed it, now its down to 50-50.

I've never had to slam it. . .

I have had issues with the seat belt tightening up on the club door & getting in the way of being able to shut it but no issues with the forward passenger door. I can shut it relatively softly and still have latch.

When I first got my Clubman I noticed that the door took much more force than most of my previous cars. I also went back to the dealer and tested the all the doors on the showroom floor and a few in the lot and all of them took much more force that what I was used to. Just seems that is the way the MINI is.
