Impressions of my 2011 after 7,600 Miles

It's by far the most fun car I've owned. That's not saying much; however, because I've only driven a 1991 Chevy S 10 and a 2001 Volvo V40 in the past 20 years.

I've not had to take it back to the dealer since I purchased in February. I've not had to top off the oil. The only maintenance I've done is wash it by hand and have the tires rotated this past week. I don't love the Cont Run-Flats, but I'll wait until they've worn out to change.

The only mods (if you want to call it a mod) is I added the OEM base rack and front-wheel mount bike rack. Thanks to this forum and Schatzy's directions (I think) that went well. My only complaint with the bike rack is the stupid strap that holds the back tire. It rattles.

(Update: I realized I didn't lock down the side panels on the base rack after installing the bike tray. No rattles now.)

All in all, I still love the car after 6 months. I see many people with gripes on this forum so I wanted to post my good experience for those who might be reading that are considering the Clubman.

Another happy MCC owner

After owning 5 BMW's, this car represents the original driving fun I had in my '74 2002 tii and then some. This car is a blast to drive and the driver community is more like the original BMW community. You guys are great.

I feel exactly the same way. I had a 71 2002 (SN 2570744-- sad I remember that off the top of my head!) and the Clubie is what the 2002 was all about.

Love mine too

In all my years of driving I've never become so attached to a car. It seems to attract others too.

Two months after I got it I had $3200 in hail stone damages -- luckily the insurance took care of that.

A couple of months ago we went hiking and an elderly driver somehow managed to back into my Clubman in a remote parking spot -- gotta love the Germans, he waited 2 hours until we got back to give me his insurance information!

I was wondering if the 2011 has done something about torque steering? Have you noticed that when you really put the pedal down?

Yes, torque steer is virtually eliminated in the 2011 models.

There is a programming fix for pre 2011 models. Do a search here on NAM for it. Lots of discussion around this topic.

2011 MCS here. 7000 miles. Only been back to the dealer once to replace two defective tyres causing a vibration at 60, other than that its been perfect and I love the thing. My only hate??? on EXTREAMLY hot days (98+) it will drip a bit of cosmoline on my garage floor after a long drive.

2011 MCS here only 1100 miles and so far so good. I usually don't like cars. I usually drive trucks. Went from a F350 SRW 4x4 to the MCS and I love it. It does have the cosmoline dripping over the front plastic over the wheels. Got to toake it to the dealer and let them try and get that gunk out.

Search forums for cosmoline. Seems to vary from car to car.

Same here. 12K on my MCS and stil lovin' it. No problems so far, only been back to have tires rotated and a oil changed at 7500.

I can't believe how much I enjoy just getting in the car and driving ....

I had an issue with Cosmoline dripping onto the arches of my R56 and because it stained the plastic the dealer replaced the arches. I have the same issue with the R55, haven’t been back to the dealer yet though.

We have only 1500 miles and we are in love with it.

Only irritation is the power window controls, way to fast and
over reactive, it is almost impossible to just crack the window an inch.

Love the sport mode for me, and the wife leaves it off on her drive
to work. Almost 2 cars in one.

I had success in glueing on the rear JW spoiler, but thats an entire thread in itself.

Mr2U, where is your thread about the rear spoiler? I'd love to read about that.

Just give them a quick double tap, a little slower than a computer double click. You'll get the hang of how long.
