Ceramic brake pads - anyone use Raybestos for R55 / R56 non-S?

Rockauto and amazon are showing a new-to-me ceramic pad for the base Cooper and Clubman. Does anyone have experience with these? At $44 for the fronts and $48 for the rears, they are the cheapest ceramics I have seen for our cars.

I'm getting tired of the constant battle with brake dust. I've seen Hawks and others, but they are more than twice the price.

Raybestos ATD1308C (fronts) at amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Raybestos ATD1309C (rears) at amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Rockauto (both, at bottom of page):
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,ca...,parttype,1684

Amazon's listing does not mention the pad formulation, but rockauto does. Opinions welcomed.

Thanks,
Will

Will,

No experience with Raybestos on the MINI, but hated them on other cars years ago. Didn't last, and still dusted.

Check out the Akibono Euro pads. Tire Rack carries them, along with some other on line places. p/n 1308 for the front, 1309 for the rear for base Clubman.

(Clubman S uses 1204 fronts, 1309 rears)

Brake dust banished forever, and they perform great. I've been running them on other cars for years, and was ecstatic when they finally released them for the MINI.

Yeah, they cost more, but only cleaning the wheels when I wash the car is worth it to me.

Good Luck!

EBC Redstuff pads are low dust ceramic and are really easy on the rotors. I can go a week to a week and a half of daily driving and the wheels don't have that black look to them.

I have them on my clubman S.

They don't have that initial harsh bite like OEM pads do, but they will flat out stop on a dime!

I recommend the EBC's

Brake pads always stur up a hornets nest around here...it's all about personal preference and budget.

I'd recommend the EBC's as well. I've found redstuff are great ceramic pads, but will need a bit of heat to really bite.

They're cheaper for a reason, you get what you pay for.

Go with the EBC's they work great.
