Mini annual inspection - what to expect?

It's getting close to my Mini's annual inspection. What should I expect them to do?

Thanks...

Just had mine checked. They did an oil change, checked fuild lvls(think they did something with the brake fluid), changed front brake pads, and changed the cabin filter.

You have to ask for new wiper blades (even though they are free); also you must pay

separately if you want the tires rotated.

Thanks guys! Okay, what are they going to do and what do I have to pay for? My Mini Clubman S is a 2009 and will probably have less than 7,000 miles on it.

I had mine done in August. I had a few more miles than you (21,481) Under warranty (no charge): Oil and filter change with synthetic oil, replace interior micro-filter, perform standard scope check and checked all CC messages diagnostic quick test and checked all warning lights. Replaced wipers front and back.
Also last month had them (still under warranty) replace front brake pads, do a brake system flush and replace the micro-filter.

Why could cars with this low milage possibly need new brake pads? I've owned 13 BMW's all with free maintenance and the only one that ever went through brakes pads was an X5. Granted I don't keep my cars usually past 36,000 miles but it seems like your dealers are trying to get some revenue from Mini for needless work. 13 BMW cars and SUV's one break pad job so something seems fishy. I'll be taking in our Clubman S in Oct for its first service so it will be interesting.

Haven't figured it out myself. I'm closing in on 60k miles on the original pads on mine.

I don't know, I've never had brake pads replaced this early. In fact I have 33000 on the original RF's so that speaks to my driving I believe. But as it is my first Mini and no experience with the maintance and they weren't charging me so I wasn't going to say no. The way I look at it if you can get at least 60,000 on the pads I'm now good to about 100,000 before I have to pay for the next set, its all good!

On a somewhat related topic, are any required state annual inspections covered under the MINI maintenance program...? Haven't had mine quite long enough to know, and it's not entirely clear to me from the factory literature...

Nope. Just maintenance. You are on your own when it comes to paying the gov't.

Read your manual. Follow the OBC. You'll probably have some posters tell you that you are _______________ if you don't change your oil every _____________ miles.
