Is this how your footwell looks

I recently bought a clubman S with just 3900 miles mini next certified from a a dealer..

first strange thing i noticed after it arrived is the driver side door missing a insulation rubber strip.

Second, this looks strange but want to confirm with other.. is this how "open" your foot well looks.. meaning you can see the steering shaft and wires hanging or is this all covered in your car. can you please post your picture?

They don't put a rubber strip on the Clubman driver's door. You can buy one and snap it on yourself, if you want one. That's what I did. (They stopped putting them on both sides of the R56; claimed they didn't do anything.)
The foot well looks normal to me.

are you serious they don't put the rubber strip? why would they leave those holes there just to get exposed and start rust. Not doubting you that sounds crazy

anyone had this installed with car or did you do it yourself like gaffer?

Unbelievable but true. There's a whole thread about this if you want to search for it. The rubber strip is under $20 at Classic MINI parts in the Vendor's directory. It snaps into all of those slots in 5 minutes.

motobell,

Here are some pictures of the '09 Clubman S if that is of any help...

The steering column looks the same as yours but no wires are hanging down. Both doors on the '09 have weather strip on the bottom.

I can see the steering shaft on my coupe. That seems to be normal, but no wires

The inside of car doors are typically open to atmosphere, they have little drain/weep holes along the bottom should any water get inside. There is a plastic membrane behind the door panel that protects the interior from the elements. IMO, These empty holes shouldn't be a worry, in fact, these strips are often the cause of rust due to dirt collecting around them, the dirt retains water and can jump start the rust.

as for the foot well it looks as if someone thad some work done on the stereo or somting else and the wiring harness did not get pushed back up hwere it belongs or maybe not strapped back down. From a stereo upgrade and cpumter install i have all kinds of iwres runnign there but i wraped them in sleeving that is black so it does not look so bad.

Like go min go said, they started to leave off the weather stripping because it was accumulating dirt, grim, salt behind it and causing rust. If you have it, it would be a good idea to thoroughly rinse the area down when washing the car. Zero seals on my 08 MCS.

You have a point, but it bothers me that those holes are exposed..may do what -I my just do what gaffer and wolfee did and get it installed. will clean it out periodically.

More holes = more ways for water to drain. But whatever, it's your car, whatever makes feel better.

The holes for the rubber strip are too high for any water to drain out of them.
