R55 i heart heel-toe shifting
i heart heel-toe shifting
random post, but just wanted to say i've been practicing my heel-toe for the past couple months, and when I hit it just right, dang does it feel good. brake, clutch downshift and blip throttle, let it out and power through the turn... when I do it smooth, just so much fun. Still jerk the car sometimes and have to think about the heel-toe a bit too much, but being my first manual transmission (when i got the car was stalling constantly) I've made some progress. For anyone on with a manual tranny and not doing heel-toe, it's worth the practice. Makes my commute to work and back pretty fun (though heel-toe in dress shoes can be a bit awkward).
Try no shoe on right foot. A lot easier. I took off the brake cover and installed a wider pedal so it's closer to gas pedal. I brake with my Big toe and blip with my 4th+5th toes and lower. I feel the gas pedal touching my right side of my foot when I brake but i am pressing down the gas pedal mainly with my big toe. You don't actually need to use your heel. I "heel and toe" downshift almost everytime I brake so I am in right powerband.
i liked heel toeing so much it inspired me to get a pair of these http://shop.puma.com/on/demandware.s...ow?q=30206504#
and soon come of thesehttp://www.mossmini.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=90844

After having driven a Miata for so long (15 years) heel/toe has become automatic. It's very frustrating when I drive a car that's not built correctly for it. I had an xB that I would drive to Deal's Gap on occasion, and would hustle it through the turns as fast as its little suspension could take. It was next to impossible to heel/toe, but was proof of how it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. I bought my MINI and was pleasantly surprised the first time I was able to hustle it into a turn that the heel/toe placement was pleasantly close to the pāramitā that the Miata's heel/toe placement is.
