Door pocket design (what's the slot for) ?

Ok,

I went from an 06 JustaCooper to the 08 Clubman. In the door pockets (lack of a better term) there is obviously an area to put stuff and then there is a slot in the plastic. Anyone have idea why that is there and what the functional purpose is? I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this as I love to be surprised with the functionality of this car.

Thanks
Peter

Added some pics since my description might not be clear. One of the best tips I got on my 06 was that the boot shelf could be used to protect headrests when seats were down. Surely the collective mind is not stumped on the slot design feature of these door pockets????

Cheers,
Peter

Hmmm -- a place to hide speeding tickets from the SO?

To put maps in.

I believe you are talking about more about that cut/indent in the pocket!?

If so, it has me stumped as well. It's too well thought out to be just a "design" feature.

Maybe it's for a CD? Or...maybe it's for those message signs that come in the Welcome Packet so you have them handy to whip out? Hum.....

I've been trying to figure this out and I thought it was a cd holder of sorts, but it's too narrow.

It's for the "Aeroflight Stability Control Wings" when it becomes a transformer in the new movie and fights the bad guys with Bumblebee!

ppawlus Aug 10, 2008 06:55 AM

I've tried papers, notebooks, cd s..but hadn't tried the ASCWs (Aeroflight Stability Control Wings) yet. No go. They look like they were put there for a reason. It isn't hiding a seam or anything. Surely you guys and gals are holding back. I'm losing sleep over this. I KNOW someone in the collective NorthAmerianMotoring mind knows.

Cheers,
Peter

I always thought that was a "light channel" for the mood lighting...

Newly improved dust collector.

It looks like a strengthening rib. It keeps the plastic from bending.

The answer is...............no one knows!!!!!:eek2: :eek2: :eek2: :eek2: :eek2:

Personally I think they put it there (in light of all the spiffy upgrades to the R56 cabin) just to remind folks they are still driving a MINI. Gotta have some quirks!!!

I agree with Juiceman. No intended use other than strengthening that portion of the pocket.

Credit Card reader so you can pay your tickets more quickly?

DragonWagon Aug 11, 2008 07:37 PM

PPawlus...things to put in the door storage.
TicTacs
Small Hand Towel for quick cleaning of dragon flies off the windshield
Glock

That slot in the storage bin is for draining blood from the fish cleaned on that plastic board.
Well, that's what I used it for.

Looks like a strengthening structure in the plastic.

You mean you don't know what the slot is for?

Duh. It's for edited for secrecy and content

Maps, cds, and credit cards don't really fit. I tried. Perhaps its for a single piece of card stock? An anchovy? I have no idea.

Single, for when you want the valet to just park and not ride around the block.
