Would you be upset?

So about 3 months ago, a friend of ours showed up to our house in their new Clubman. Even though we were in the market for a new car, I never even considered the Clubman. So after they left, I did a little research and found that the Clubman got 37 mpg on the highway...I was sold. Hence we ordered one about a month later.

So my question to you...if you were my friend, would you be upset that I'm getting one?

I think I'd be flattered, but just don't choose the same exact colors and options .

Not at all. I try to talk as many of my friends into getting a MINI that I can.

I guess part of me feels like the joy of owning this car is that it's NOT everywhere (e.g. Civics, Prius', 3 Series, etc)...at least not yet. And that by getting one, I'm somehow cutting down on the time my friend has to feel that neat feeling of having something truly unique. I guess it's similar to the feeling my wife might get if someone came to a party in the same dress.

I met a fellow employee for the first time while showing off my car in the parking lot. We went for a spin and he turned around and bought one a couple weeks later. Was I upset? Heck no! I was happy to help someone else see how cool MINIs are. I think a lot of people write off these cars as too small, too novel, or just a toy. Our ride opened his eyes to the brand and off he went...

Absolutely the more the merrier - that's why many of us get together for MINI cult gatherings. ...I mean MINI runs and other events.

Seriously, if you are interested in something or enjoying something, you're happy to share it, right?

I don't htink anyone would post here if we had issues about others owning MINIs.
There are plenty of other issues...

Your getting one just reinforces the correctness of his decision. Probably make him feel good.

I'm told that MINIs are already ubiquitous in the UK. They probably will become fairly common here as well. If you want to be unique, import a Citroen.

I would be happy. I sell the virtues of the Clubman to everyone that asks. What would upset me is if you lived next door and every morning I went out to go to work to find you sitting in my Clubman. Eventually you'd have to go home!!!

Yes, let your friend help with your configuration but you have the "veto".
