Any Interest in Fiberglass or Carbon Fiber Door Handle Covers?

I just had a nice conversation w/ Mike at Aesthetic Creations about doing some fiberglass door handle covers for the Clubman, both front and rear.

The reason is I want body-colored handles and getting a perfect color match in vinyl (especially the Mellow Yellow) is proving VERY difficult (Lyle w/ VinylStyles sent a sample but it was too orange).

Mike is willing to produce these if there is sufficient interest. I have NO pricing info. I'm just trying to see if it would be worth Mike's time to make a mold for the rears (he already does the front handles so that is taken care of).

According to Mike, he would offer them in Carbon Fiber, fiberglass that is primed, and fiberglass that is prepainted w/ factory colors.

Any takers?

Fiberglass painted to match would be great then i could Brown Out my mini instead of Black Out.

Exactly! It opens up alot of possibilities besides just the "Blackout" option.

I would keep working with Lyle on the vinyl option. You can get literally hundreds of samples of the 3m, avery and fdc vinyl colors for free if you just look on the web and I am sure you'll get a good match. The fiberglass/cf handle covers had a lot of problems with fitment (read past posts and once they are on they can't be removed without damaging your handles and the handles are a bear to remove on the new models. Vinyl is easy to remove. Hope this helps.

But even with Lyle's Vinyl option, he sends you new handles, wrapped, that you have to swap out with your old handles, thus you still have to deal with the PITA handle swap.

If something is worth doing....it's worth doing right. I'd rather do that than have caps on the handles...caps generally look like caps and their fitment is often sub-par.

Sounds awesome. Now i just have to decide if i really want to do it or not. My problem is that my Mini's name is Swiss Miss and the chrome actually makes it look as if there is part of a Swiss Miss wrapper there.

Any opinions?

I'd be interested in it, and i'd go fiberglass OR carbon fiber depending on the pricing. CF would look great but if it's too pricey i'd just do fiberglass.
