Same problem - sometimes sounds like a couple of crickets in my backseat. But I have to say it is the only complaint I have for putting a little over 1400mi on my 2009 MCCS so far.

My clubman has the same issue. Told the dealer about it while having the rear window trim replaced. 2+ hours later they gave the car back and said they had fixed the squeek, but that it was in the drivers side armrest. I guess they picked the location furthest from the reported squeek. Seat squeeked all the way home from the dealer and is now folded flat for silence. Will grease it tonight. Thanks!

I have that noise in the right rear passenger seat and sprayed some silicone into the latching mechanism (inside the seat back) as well as on the metal bar but still get a lot of squeaking/chirping. Should I use a different product? Might there be another source for the noise? Thanks.

I used a heavier liquid grease that seemed to solve the problem nicely.

I used some felt tape (about 3/8" width) and just wrapped it around the metal latch on the loaner car. I've done the same thing on my 05's fold down seats and there doesn't appear to be any long-term side effects from using the tape. Plus, you never have to reapply the grease!

Thanks to the search function I found this thread. Picked up my 2nd hand Clubman on Monday, and the squeaking has been driving me nuts. I knew I could have it looked at under warranty so it didn't bother me that it was there.

I'm going to leave it till Monday when I'm scheduled to see BMW. I'm going to let them sort it out so maybe they learn something. And I'll enjoy the espresso in the lounge and sit on a few motorcycles while I wait Maybe I need something to replace my '75 R75/6.

An application of white lithium grease to the latch that locks the rear seat backs in place fixed the squeak in my Clubman. It didn't actually stop right away--took about 3 or 4 days, for some reason--but now I haven't heard a peep from it in 9 months.

Yeah I'm confident I could fix it, but having just bought the car I needed an excuse to go to BMW Toronto to transfer service records and ask a few questions about upcoming service.

this may be helpful to those with no success with the latch. i had a squeak over every bump in my 07 MC coupe. thought it was the rear seat latch as well, but turns out the noise goes away when i vent the sunroof just a little (millimeters), still effectively closed but now quiet.

haven't had a chance yet to go in to the dealer for this as well as my wet passenger floor problem.

for what its worth bmw service was able to make the squeak by pushing on the left rear seat back.

they're replacing both seat latches next week.

I had the same thing, took it to the dealer, they put padding inside the car - it's gone for the MOST part.

Padding? Sounds like some sort of bandaid fix. I wouldn't let BMW do that - that would be like them wrapping tape around the latch to eliminate it.

Mine creaks and squeaks going around corners. I'm hoping the latches do the trick - but I have over 2 years of warranty time left to have them fix it - even if they have to take the car apart to do it.

Thanks to everyone.... I thought I was going nuts!

I was on a 5 hour drive last weekend, first long drive since I picked um my Clubbie and the squeak started. It was driving me positively insane. I got rid of it temporarily by dropping the rear seat back down and latched it back up. It came back eventually but I will try the WD-40. I'm sure it's the same problem as everyone else in the thread. I wonder why BMW hasn't resolved this yet. Sounds like it's quite common.

Skip the self-medicating lube jobs. They replaced both rear seat latches in my Clubman this morning and voila - no more squeak.

Don't know if it's an alignment issue, or fresh lube from the install and maybe it will reappear - but for the next couple years, they're fixing it over and over again. All that squeaking made me feel like I was driving a Kia. Now it finally feels like I'm driving a BMW.

I closely examined the metal latch to see where the wear was from the rubbing. It was on the corner of the latch closest to the half door. I wrapped a little electrical tape around it and it has stopped. I don't like messing with grease. Too messy for me.
