R55 "Top Gear" doesn't like the Clubman?
It's got quite a bit of information about cars. It's dumbed down a bit, but still quite informative for those that don't know much.
Just because they don't like the Clubman doesn't make them "*******".
This isn't so new, there have been multiple threads on this topic over the last few weeks...
Rusty, seriously, TopGear is all about the hosts and really bad haircuts.
The cars come in a distant second. The crowd huddles like spectators around a vacuum at an infomerical.
It's the U.S. equivalent of Deion Sanders + the British hosts of Infomercials.
Enjoy the fun and don't worry about content.

Once Adam Corolla ruins TopGear stateside, I believe you'll have a new take on what is, and isn't about the cars.
That being said, TG is the best show on TV, hands down, IMHO. Everything good TV should be, informative, commercial-free, freely available on the internet, and above all...flipping hilarious.
The show is on BBC America and I watch it every time I find it.
The next showing is 5/31.
"Those of you who think that TopGear is not about the cars, or motoring in general have no idea what you're speaking about. Have you even see the show?" Those are fighting words. Your opinion is worth as much as any one elses.
At least we disagree politely.

Don't get 11x00, because it's not really TopGear, it's Top Ground Gear Garden Force
Don't ask...

Seriously, it's a fantastic show. If you're looking for dry, monotonous statistical rambling like you find on Car and Driver television, yeah, you're in the wrong place. But if you'd like a show that is all about all facets of motoring, the good, the bad, and the retarded. Try the real TopGear for a whole season. I'll eat my hat if you don't love it.
I love Top Gear. I think the crew are hilarious. They are idiots. Jeremy is a buffoon. May might have a learning disability. And Hammond seems like a forgotten Eric Idle character. But they are very, very funny.
They don't pull any punches. I find the show very Lettermanesque. They're going to hurt feelings and they don't care.
I love Top Gear. It may be the most entertaining show on television. Who can't smile watching the Stig hustle around the track in a supercar while simultaneously practicing beginner's Italian to a Berlitz tape?
You can learn quite a bit about cars and automotive history on the show. (For instance I saw an episode recently where they explored how we came to have today's common clutch-brake-gas pedals on the floor. They drove examples of numerous early cars with various odd mechanisms for steering, giving gas, etc.). I don't see how anyone can say with a straight face that the show isn't about cars. Despite the irreverent humor there is a lot of good information.
That said, I don't take their "reviews" very seriously at all. They obviously enjoy being provocative, often arguing amongst themselves with extreme opinions in opposite directions. Besides, these guys spend their days test driving (and I suspect, owning) an array of supercars the likes of which most of us will never flip the ignition on. It's inevitable that they are going to be less than starry-eyed over cars like the Clubman which are essentially sporty budget cars (by their standards).

Top Gear is a fun show; just that. So take everything they say, Clarkson especially, with a large pinch of salt. (And don't forget he bought one of the horrible Ford GT replicas with his own money and still hasn't been able to live it down!)
The lads have their opinion and you have yours.
The show has alot of info on cars that most people would never buy, also the great thing about the show is that they are not experts they are near idiots.
The combination of hosts, cars, challenges and such make it a great show.

TG is a great show. My non-automotive enthusiast wife loves to watch the show. There's never been another car show that she likes, let alone looks forward to. It's brilliant, one of my favorite shows on television.
I don't care if TG likes or dislikes any of my cars. The show is funny, period.

Saying a car is "ugly" is an opinion. It's not a matter of being "right" or "wrong".(other than in our own minds.)
It looks like these guys have fun, and that's cool by me. I've never watched this show, but have programmed it in to my TiVo for the next episode.

Not a replica, a real GT40. And problematic as it may have been, he's right about one thing...that car is sex.
Jezza is a shock jock and whstnot, but I do love Top Gear and the great chemistry between the hosts, the cars and the crazy stuff they do.
Unfortuntately, we will never see anything of that caliber made here in the USA, the land of political correctness
