thanks so much, they actually have a grill you can buy with the precut, what make me wonder is they said "shave" sounds more like cutting to me.

Driving lights on my BRG

Here are mine with the stock covers over them. I'd like to find some black 'n white ones versus the all white.

Adding my pic to the thread: Hella 500s, VIP light bar...
(I started with the VIP brackets, but they bounced around too much).

may add another set of 500s later...

Has anyone been able to wire their driving lights so that the high beams do not have to be on for the driving lights to be on? If possible, I will most definitely look into getting these.

Thanks!

Okay...if one wants driving lights for looks then one will need to spend the dollars. But...

If one just wants more light when driving using the dims then just turn on the front fog lamps - they're standard on the Clubman! When the switch for these is on the fogs will automatically come on when the headlights are on dim and when the headlights are on bright the fogs automatically go off. It's amazing how much additional light these cast. Try it!

Actually, fog lights are only standard on the S, not the non-S. I do agree with you on the lighting though -- fog lights are very helpful for lighting the bottom and side of the road.

Still, if I were to get the driving lights, I would definitely want to know how to re-wire them so they are not connected to the high beam. IMO, they are expensive if bought for purely aesthetics, which is why I would like to wire them for use with the low beams as well. That way, I can get the best of both worlds -- better aesthetics and useful lights!

Hey Brad that rally edition is awesome! What else is added in the package besides the scuttles and mirror caps?

the wiring harness that came with the Hellas has a relay circuit that you wire to the hot lead for the high beams. I imagine that you could either wire it to the low beams instead or just bypass the relay altogether to have them available all the time.

BTW... last evening I used the Hellas on a drive down a few desolate highways in Western Washington on a rainy, wet pitch black night. I can't believe what a difference they make!

rally lights

from what I understand. I have 2009 R55 (clubman) He had driving lights on him when I purchased him, but I didn't like the looks of them so I had them taken off at the dealership. I am now wanting to put a rack of 4 lights. The VIP light bar appears to be my best bet and according to the experts will not block off that much air flow. I will then mount 4 hella 500 black magics. Since the car originally had the lights, and switch, I would assume they left the wire harness. fingers are crossed.
