Can't get order into production????

I have ordered a loaded Sterling Silver Clubbie S in late February 08. I'm told by my dealer that it will be September before the order goes into production!!! They told me it has nothing to do with my options; all Clubbie's are taking 6+ months to even get accepted by MINI for production, so no numbers or anything until September goes the story.

How long did some of you have to wait for your order to at least be accepted by MINI with a build number?

A very impatient person....me

Ordered mine March 26, dealer reconfigured a clubman scheduled to be built. It's built & scheduled for delivery May 14. Your dealer may have used his allotted slots to reconfigure cars.

btw I had a build number the night I ordered it.

I ordered my clubbie yesterday and its gonna be built in 4weeks and due to delivery second week in june.

Otra Apr 18, 2008 03:51 AM

luckynine, it appears from what has been posted that Sterling has some issues with what seems like not enough allotment slots for their orders. You can find other threads on here that discuss this.

You might want to call around to other dealers and find out if they have open slots for a more timely delivery.

Here's the thread, read it and see what you think: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=135923

Did you order from Mini of Sterling or are you calling the color Sterling Silver ?

If you used MoS, what MA told you this ?

Otra Apr 18, 2008 07:19 AM

 Good question...never assume and all that. Either way that sounds like a long wait.

I posted a similar plight in the 1st gear forum, I am waiting till September as well - however, I do believe it will be worth the wait

azminiman Apr 18, 2008 10:22 AM

ordered Feb 29, was built 3rd week of March, on ship 3-26 and is now floating off the coast of Guadalajara

azminiman Apr 18, 2008 10:23 AM

I would try an other dealership.

warev Apr 18, 2008 10:33 AM

In my situation, I live in Seattle/Tacoma Area, mini dealer is roughly 3 miles from my house (Mid-Sept. delivery), Portland would be 120 miles away (Nov.-Dec. delivery), next closest would be Sacramento 600 miles away, don't know what thier delivery estimates could be.

azminiman Apr 18, 2008 10:39 AM

When I wanted an S back in 04. Our Phx dealer said 10-12 months.( only dealer within 350 of Phx ) 3 weeks later, I had my 04S in my driveway. Bought and had shipped from Florida. I did have to wait 4days for it though....

The dealer might have used all of their order slot allotments. If there's another dealer close (and close is all relative...) ask them is they have a slot open for an order placement.

Sorry I posted a confusing "color"...I meant to say that I ordered a sparkling silver, NOT sterling silver.
I'm in the NWest and it seems this area has very long waits. But I have gotten 2 verbal increases in the wait time before even getting the order into the queue. Don't know if I'm patient enough to wait until the end of the year.

I was told "unofficially" that it might be a case of MINI not building enough for the US because of the sucking dollar and by putting off orders until after Sept. they become '09's with a higher price. Don't know, but I'm now past the time to receive an '08 I was told by person at dealer.

I have 2 2006 MINI S convertibles which I ordered without problem, but this might put me over the edge.

Otra Apr 18, 2008 11:02 AM

I know it has been said before but...just remember the dealer you order from does not need to be the dealership you have your MINI serviced at. That said, I'm the loyal type...and fortunately my MA and dealer didn't have long waits.

Hang in there and I'm sure you'll figure out the best approach.

PrincetonMINI_Megan Apr 18, 2008 11:28 AM

Make sure to stay in contact with your dealer for more information - however I know our dealership has slots for June production right now. I took an order from a customer yesterday and it is scheduled for early June production. (AKA delivery of car mid-July at latest). Depending on how many Clubmans that dealership has ordered, that may be what is pushing you back so far. Hope this was helpful!

I was no. 1 on the list for Arizona (2 years ago) and as I followed the progression of the design and then release in the UK, I read that by April of 2008 people in the U.S. would be waiting until around September and later for delivery as they allocate only so many for U.S. prouction. Right now in the UK one out of 5 Minis produced are Clubmans. As they get a higher price for them in the other countries, the U.S. is limited. But going to another dealer and having it shipped to you might be the solution. Mini of the Hamptons ships all over and they always seem to have a pretty decent inventory too.

Right now I'm waiting to be put on the list for the 2009 Cabrio. Guess I'll be first for that too as they don't have a list at my dealership yet.

Anyone interested in a BMW330 Ci convertible with 5,700 miles on her? No rain, no snow, no passengers, perfume, parking lots, etc. (35K). I decided I wanted two MINIs in the garage instead.

However long the wait is it is 100% worth it.

warev Apr 18, 2008 12:07 PM

luckyknine, I guess we are in the same boat, to bad our clubmans won't be on a boat for some time. WOW, I can't beleive you put your order in Feb. and still waiting till Sept! I don't think NW mini is getting a very large allotment.

I like your thinking:thumbsup: In about 10 day, I will have 3 in my garage. OBTW what part of AZ are you in...

cloud10 Apr 21, 2008 12:20 AM

I'm up in Prescott in Kurt89A country. Just joined the AZ Mini Club though. They're coming up here for a picnic in May. Just can't wait to be with all the other MINI people again!

harold47 Apr 21, 2008 07:09 AM

got my order # same day I ordered, what state are you in? Call other dealers.

Doogs Apr 21, 2008 08:28 AM

Two words. "Road trip".

Order from another dealer, then take a few days off and see this great nation of ours as you get to know your Clubbie. Moreover, you'll be past the break-in period that much faster!

Copywrites Apr 21, 2008 08:35 AM

It makes a huge difference ordering an S vs,. a non-S. They are scheduling non-S for 6-8 weeks. S versions are into the fall. Unless their dealers are reconfiguring a S version for a customer, I suspect everyone else is buying a non-S Clubman.
