Service Indicator - Brake Service
 

I noticed on the Clubman's service indicator that the front and rear brakes have a mileage estimate of when they'll need service (currently at 31,000 miles). How does this get calculated? I always thought that the brake wear sensor was the only "trigger" for a brake service idicator. How does the MINI computer figure out how worn my brakes are? My Clubman's brand new, so this is something for down the line, but this is confusing, especially considering how much variation there can be on brake wear from driver to driver.

That question is something I'll definitely bring up to my SA this upcoming Thursday when I'm dropping Ocius II for service. I'm kinda curious myself as I am a big fan of "spirited driving".

Good angle. I always worked off the sensors too. I wonder how this will be affected when I switch to ceramic pads (which will be ASAP)?

I'm sure it just does the same calculations used with the oil. It all depends on how you drive, in this case it might look at how fast your speed drops when you brake, the faster the speed drops the harder your braking. It's all just a wag, you're brakes could wear quicker or slower than calculated.
