What's with the Cooper S emblem?
Why do all the pictures I see of the Clubman have Cooper S brandings?

The Clubman's will not be 'branded' or noted in any way that they are a Clubman, but rather just Cooper or Cooper S. With most of the early builds and reviews - I'm sure to fight off any reports of it being to 'under powered' - they're pushing mostly S models to the press.

So the non S doesnt have the weird rear end coloring ?
|
But it's not a Cooper... It's a Clubman... Dear God, not another company bringing back past cars and not knowing what they are...
|
You can see a good comparison of both models in the MC2 mag. Nearly equal billing.

And if that photo is the real McCoy then the Cooper.... non-S models don't have the funky taillights that we've been seeing. Hmmm.... |

http://www.motorauthority.com/wp-con...I_Clubman2.jpg Compare with this one for reference... http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/1....prf.1.500.jpg |
I think the rear paint scheme is optional...
and it ties into the rear design of the original. I don't like it, but those that want the historical link may.

Almost 100% sure this is a photochop.

Is it just me, or does the clubman sit lower than the R56? |
Let's hope it's not just you!

Here's a spy photo from a while back showing a couple Cooper Clubmans with what looks like the funky rear pillars and taillights...:sly:

Sorry guys, I was just skimming through some Google images and grabbed one that was a Cooper. I should have paid more attention to the photo.
The one I posted is definitely not accurate when compared to the production model. |
Okay you're all missing the point. Haha.
MINIUSA.com shows it as a Cooper S. But what I'm trying to say is... it's NOT a Cooper S! It's a Clubman! And if the Clubman has an S version, so be it... Why is BMW/MINI slapping the Cooper S badge on there? I think it's ridiculously embarassing... |
Yep there will be an Cooper S version & a Cooper version of the Traveler. I mean Clubman.

the clubman (in the past) was this with the weird front end: http://www.geocities.com/jharkola/im...iku/rover7.jpg And the clubman estate: http://www.austin-rover.co.uk/press/clubman_1.jpg Morris Traveller: http://www.centralnet.ch/userpages/m.../jgmmorris.jpg |
It's all about what name BMW still owned the rights to. They wanted to call it the Traveller but couldn't. I'm still going to call the Clubman that. Just seems right & proper to me.
