Actually, impact was probably 45-60 degrees to the right of dead ahead and centered on right front wheel.

While I love my cabrio, one thing that I think about (more than I did when I drove a hardtop) is the possibility of hitting a deer. We have quite a few deer in our area and I see a dead one on the roadside pretty frequently.

I've never hit a deer in my life, but the thought of possibly hitting one when the top is down is starting to freak me out a bit.

I don't think the deer will care whether your top is up or down...

It's had for me to visualize a deer actually coming over the top of the windshield and ending up in the car - I'd be interested in hearing stories from those who have had deer impacts in their MINI (hardtop or cabrio) on whether the deer actually made it over the windshield - seems to me they are either going too come THROUGH the windshield, or they're going to bounce off to the side, or ???

If you really want to worry--think about hitting a moose on a dark night!

Their legs are so long your car goes underneath the moose's body and their body sheers off your windshield. Now that's something to occupy your mind.

Yep - I'm happy I live south of the "Moos'in Dixon Line" for this very reason...

I share the concern about hitting animals but it is no different for me whether I am in the covertible or any of my other vehicles with tops. I know of no way to be safe from collision except slowing down at twilight and after dark.
