I just DIDN'T order a new MCSc!!!

And I couldn't be happier.

First, I will say: that is an AWESOME car. Really, really awesome. For just some minor tweaking, it drove considerably better than my '03. More refined in general -- and oh the wonderfullness of going topless!

But then I got back to the service area and Ollie was ready and washed-up (though probably NOT with the double bucket method and possibly with less-than-pristine "rags". Ack.) and shiny and with a computer upgrade that actually seems to have improved his launches (though I admit this could be psychosomatic) and we motored happily home.

I figure, he's probably going to give me headaches -- but then he already has. They just haven't been significant enough to ditch him.

Some day (specifically, the day after I get my MFA) a cabrio will make a wonderful stablemate for my Ollie.

And I feel like I'm in love with him all over again!:grin::grin:

Good for you, girl. There's hope for you yet:thumbsup:

Congrats on (what I believe to be) a great decision!

I'm glad I don't care for going topless (sunburn my bald head) too much noise (yesterday I was going down the highway and saw a new MCSC stopped beside the road and I stopped and asked if he needed help and he said he had to stop to be able to hear on his cell phone). Never, driven with the new steering wheel but love mine, don't care for the new headlights. And, finally, I have too many $$$$$$$$$$ in my MCS to give it up. :eek2: :eek2:

I would like the gear ration, LSD (not the drug), and maybe a new color -- either PW/B or CR/W but I'll stay with what I have also.

Earl

 Awwwww....that's so sweet when the romance is rekindled!   Good thinking, Kell...you can get a cabrio in the future when it makes more economic sense for you!

Ollie will get his new grill installed tomorrow or Sunday, but I feel now that I should get him an extra present. That Borla exhaust is looking mighty affordable in light of the money I would have spent on the MSCc...:thumbsup:

Get a Milltek!!! Listen to several before deciding on the exhaust. I really prefer the Milltek, but you get what Ollie likes best!

He needs a rear seat wind deflector. They make a HUGE difference! I recommend the checkered flag version!

Om, Absolutely nothing wrong with keeping a good thing! BTW, you location says CT? Did you move from the 'burgh?

chrisneal May 20, 2005 10:05 AM

Congratulations, Toasty, I like the decision! (and thanks for your congrats for me making the opposite decision!)

With all that traveling that you seem to like to do, I think the hardtop is much more practical for you. I loved the Cabrio when I drove it, but you really lose a lot of usable space. A huge part of what makes me love the MINI so much is that it's a hatchback that I can load a freaking washing machine into if I had to. Not so with the Cabrio...

Enjoy your make-up drive with Ollie!

Clo... I don't think I've heard the Militek... hmmmmmmmmm.... I'll have to give a listen -- I know there's a thread around here somewhere with sound files...

And I DID move away (far, far away from Primanti's) to CT last summer. Thus my absence from PittStop events (not that I was ever super reliable ) of late. But I'm still on the mailing list and keep wistful track of your activities -- sounds like y'all have been having a good time:smile:

If I'm a 1 MINI kind of gal, that 1 MINI is going to have to be Ollie. Otherwise, I'm apparently a 2 MINI gal. Happy graduation to me! Now, I'll only have to wait another 4 years... argh!

I like your decision. I too have thought about exchanging my '02 for an '05 or '06. But, I've decided to wait at least until after the first year of the next generation turbo model......could end up feeling that I pulled the trigger too soon. In the meantime I'm still crazy about my modded MCS (several thousand invested) despite an unwanted intermittent vibration here and there and it motors a mite better than even a new stock '06 will go. I'm very content with what I have right now.

Sound files won't help you Om.

I just installed a Milltek before I took off for the Dragon this year. It’s not only an awesome power boost, but the sound is mild compared to the other performance exhaust on the market. If you are thinking of this kind of mod I would suggest the Milltek any day.

Madam Toast, I can totally relate! I was "this close" to trading last Fall, but caved watching my little IB Cooper motor off for an appraisal. It was a defining moment in that, in a flash, I could see all the things I really loved about my current MINI, especially the early Cooper styling which has evolved somewhat w/ the '05s. Don't get me wrong...I love the newer variants and improvements...I'm still not "over" my first MINI yet. I, too, may be one of those watching what '07 brings, but even then there's no guarantees.

I think you and Ollie should renew your vows

I really want a MCS but after all the work I've done to my Cooper, Jason, I don't know if I could ever sell him.

Best wishes to you and Ollie

OmToast May 22, 2005 10:59 AM

Awwwwwww..... thanks for all the support, guys!

While I KNEW that I wasn't the only MINIperson out there who would have a rough time selling, your sentiments reinforce the fact that I'm in good company!

Ollie and I were in a parade yesterday, escorting my Williams~Mystic Fall 2001 alumni class (and the annual Williams~Mystic bed) to the Mystic May Day Bed Race.:grin::grin: It was great -- we put a little W~M jack flag on his antenna, and Ollie already sports the official colors of the program. Kids were yelling and waving... the sun was shining... Ollie was such a success he secured a repeat gig for the parade next year....

and then today his stereo broke. :sly:

Thankfully, I find the timing ironic enough that I've avoided outright weepeng.

The Turbo comment, though, makes me nervous: I don't want no stinking turbo!
