R52 top closing is interrupted and then acts dead.
HELP!
When trying to close the convertible top, the top stops about 6 to 10 inches from where the guide pins engage and the locks secure the side rails for the sunroof feature. I've replaced the switch that controls the top up/down by the rear view mirror, all five relays behind the left side rear speaker panel work when pulled out and tested with 12 volt source. I can manually put the top all the way down, and the hydraulic pump can push it up to the 6-10 inches away from the guide pin seat, and then it just stops. At that point I cannot retract the sunroof or extend the top with the electrical system. I can fully close the sunroof manually, but it will not open from any position electrically. The LED in the up/down switch blinks for about a minute when ignition switch is turned off. Any ideas? |
Sounds like the sunroof cables are binding or the motor is weak. Is it even when it goes back ? Also the cables have to slide very easy, when you manually pull the cables back with the key in the overhead motor , is it very hard ?

Works for me
This might have nothing to do with it but I swear it works every time... Mine does the same thing so I open the trunk, flip the levers on the side up and back down again. I'm sure there's a much bigger issue that it does this. Let me know if you figure it out!
