The cracked weather stripping around the back of the top is a known problem with the convertibles that Mini refuses to acknowledge is a problem. It will crack and degrade and fall apart when non of the other trim does that. I've beat my head against the wall with them and have given up. I'm going to buy a pair (left and right) and install them myself. You can get them from an on-line Mini parts department for around 155 apiece. Keep the receipt and the old parts. Then, just before the two year parts warranty is up, take your original parts and the receipt to the dealer and demand replacements. A pain, but at least you'll never have to buy replacements again.

And 600 is rediculous. 230 for both parts and about half an hour of labor is all it should cost. They're easy to replace.

I ignored the cost factor when we bought it as it's so darn cool but I should have stuck with my instincts and gone with a Honda, Mazda or Hyundai.
call dryer reinbold in Indy and see what they have to say. Also contact way motor works they can score OEM parts cheaper than stealerships.

I got an OEM replacement T-stat for 42 dollar shipped compared to 80 dollar from Dryer Reinbold just down the street from me.

OEM oil is Castrol european formula 0W30 which is an A3 rated oil far better than mobile (exception their 0W40 euro spec oil)

it is great stuff use it in all my rides 10-15 K interval based on testing at blackstone labs.

It is now marketed as an edge product

Better late than never

Just wanted you to know we had same issue, we were pretty bummed and did not pay to fix just waited and then we received postcard in mail that is was recalled we took into dealership and they replace for$0--I believe you can get a refund from recall if you were one of many that paid to have part fixed😊

Of course there was subsequently a safety recall on the seat airbag sensor. Anyone who still has this issue should be able to get it fixed for free. Redress may be available for people who paid out of pocket (I'm not sure how that works).

Got to find a good repair shop and get away from going back to the dealer for stuff that any good shop can handle at a much less $$$ labor rate...
