Folding the windscreen

Can anyone explain how to fold the windscreen? I can fold it in half but can't figure out how to fold it into quarters. It feels like it will break if I try to force it. Thanks

I'm an engineer but this had me stumped for awhile when I first got the deflector.

The handle on the driver's side (the one that tilts out) slides back to two positions. First (while tilting the handle) slide it back to retract the pin that sticks into the interior side panel. Also tilting the handle, you can now slide it back further (this takes a fair amount of force) to release the top portion for folding.

The Owner's Manual for the car actually has instructions even though this is an accessory item (see "wind deflector" in the index).

It's a lot easier to do than to explain, but here goes:

You know the two large handles/grips along the "spine" of the deflector? The ones you have to pull toward the center of the deflector in order to retract the two front pins?

One of the handles (I can't remember which one) actually has three positions - pin out, pin retracted, and a third position that allows you to fold the deflector into quarters. You just pull the handle away from the spine and push it toward the middle of the deflector, as if you were retracting the pin, but keep going. It will disengage the hinge and allow you to fold the deflector.

To figure out which end to do this to, look at the hinges at either end of the "spine". One of them will have a screw head visible, while the other won't. It's the end *without* the visible screw that breaks apart to fold the deflector.

If this doesn't work for you, let me know and I'll take some pictures.

Thanks, everyone - finally got it. The instructions that come with the screen are extremely poor.

I was having the same problem with this the other day too. The dang thing is so expensive I didn't want to accidentally bust it. I agree the picture instruction sheet that came with it is worthless. Thanks for instructions that actually make sense.
