Cabrio warranty

Hi guys, looking for some feedback on warranties... I have an 05 MCC with CVT. Should I look into getting an extended warranty that covers the roof and the transmission?

Does anyone recommend an extended warranty?

Thanks!!

Obviously depends on price and any limitations... but if I had the CVT and were planning to keep it a while and hadn't modified my car - YES I'd get an extended warranty...

Read any warranty you're considering very carefully to find out what's covered and what's excluded, since most extended warranties aren't "bumper-to-bumper" like the factory warranty is.

In particular, I think you may have a hard time finding one that will cover the convertible top.

Make sure it' a 'factory' warranty, not a 3rd party...

MINI USA does not offer an extended factory warranty.
After your 4 years is up you'll have to go to a 3-party. Having just look at this on Saturday I can tell you the one offered by our dealer here in Denver is through GE and it is bumper-2-bumper excluding tires. Cost for an extended 3 years or 36K miles is around $2100 with a $200 deductible and $2400 with a $50 deductible at any service location. Does not include the MINI towing service that the factory warranty has but does include everything covered under the original warranty.
To extend the maintenance package for another 3 years or 36K miles is right at $2000 and includes all MINI service items as per the owners manual and excludes tire rotations and alignments.
Hope that helps.
